Gentlemen: Has anybody tried out one of those Taurus 5-shot .410ga./45LC revolvers? Would be most interested in comments in both the 3" & 6-1/2" barrel length models.

I cannot tell from their catalog if it has a threaded rifled/choke like the T/C, and I think the H&R uses as well. Anyone know about that?

Thanks,

I've got one and I love it, there's several threads on this already, one further down this page I think and if you search "taurus 4410" you'll find a bunch more.

The barrel is not threaded for a choke but someone has mentioned a gunsmith doing that kind of work on them.

I've tested 3 inch Buckshot from my 7 inch barrel TC a couple times.
That's 3 inches of chamber and 4 inches of barrel.

Almost any pistol bullet will go through a couple 2 inch boards. The deepest any of the 410 balls went into the wood was 1 inch and most of the balls barely made 3/4 inch.
At the same time I shot the boards with a Beretta Minx 22 Short. The 22 penetrated further than the buckshot.

A couple days ago I shot a Crow sitting in a tree from 45 feet, with #6 shot.
The Crow flew away and this TC has a pretty effective choke.

Over the years I've dropped a number of snakes with that 410 but not much of anything else.

The .410 is not much different than other gauges except for the volume of shot it throws. There isn't a load that is effective on people that won't penetrate walls. Walls are just too easy to shoot through.

Pattern your gun and see what shoots well and then pick the sizes from that which have the pellet count -vs- penetration that you want.

Great for home protection!!!

I bought the six inch barrel first and I liked it so well I bought the a second one with the four inch barrel. I think it is much better then the Thunder Five that I traded in. The Taurus only shoots a 2 1/2 inch shot shell but if your shooting in the dark at a short distance your not likely to miss your target.
