Taurus is asking for ideas... here is one.

How about a 9mm, six shot revolver with a 4 inch barell that accepts moon clips on a K frame size. This would be great for IDPA. Oh yea, make it with a smooth trigger and in black.

Introduce a new cartridge, nothing improves the esteem of a gun maker like their own ammo. Picture it "45 Taurus".

what I would propose is a cut down 45 Winchester Magnum, sufficiently hot to rival top load .41mag, but only slightly longer than a 45acp. The idea is you could shoot cheap 45acp through it like 38spec through a 357 gun. That would ensure the long term success of this revolver.

Come to think of it I'm sure wildcats of this description already exists, someone just need to make it cheap and available.

Here is my idea for Taurus, I took a 480 raging bull, cut it down to 2 5/8, added some aluminum bar stock to the grip frame & installed a s&w N frame pachmryr grip. Bead blasted the cylinder & polished the frame. Fabricated a hi-viz sight out of a front rifle sight. Regards Mike

I wouldn't mind seeing Taurus make a single action model. Beretta just came out with a SA revolver. Im sure there would be a market for them.

Id buy one,

Brian

Mike - that 480 snubby is awesome!

Does it shoot well? How's the recoil? How many ounces loaded/unloaded?

Don't leave us hangin!!

Gabe, you've just described the .460 Rowland! :D See here for more information.

Thanks Guys,
George Hill, I can't legally do it for anyone else because I don't have a FFL. I'm thinking about getting one to be able to do custom work for others & supplement my income. However I might could be presuaded to sell this one. :D Regards Mike

I'm glad i'm not the only person who wants to see a serious big bore pocket cannon. I've always had a thing for bulldog style revolvers, unfortunately i don't own any revolvers at all! little gun with a big freaking hole coming out the front....nothing better to make the BG crap his pants. .480 is the perfect round for it too, doesn't have the wrist breaking snap of a .454. Big and slower is definately the right way to go. If you did offer a custom one, how much would it cost to get it done? THR member special? BTW, we should take this picture, send it to taurus with 100 THR member signatures saying "we want this."

Buy American

There guns are a joke. I just would rather put my money in an American product. My suggestion would to make better quality guns. I don't own one and never will. Just my opinion :)

a six shot UNPORTED 45 acp snubby.

The first thing that popped into my head when I saw the title of the thread. It probably should be a 460R / 45ACP with moon clips about CA Bulldog size but as thick as possible. I can deal with the bulge but I want it built like a tank to last forever under heavy (ab)use. Make it in different bbl lengths cause I haven't decided on that yet! Blue steel.

I can't choose the 480 chambering myself, for the brass/ammo availability. 45 is everywhere comparitively.

Redhawk, have you had a chance to inspect the newer crop of Taurus (taurii?). They are pretty solid and I don't think pointing my 905 at anyone would cause them to bust out in laughter. *They're not putting out shoddy work anymore.

I double that. I am getting tired of the Taurus bashing. I am a Ruger revolver guy. I bought a Tracker because I liked it. It is stainless and it is tough. Plus it looks good. It is lighter than the Ruger GP100, and it has an appeal to me. I have had no problems. I am probably near 1,000 rounds, mostly .357 mags, some very hot, with no issues.

Taurus bashing, I do not consider it bashing. I bought a PT45 with the ports. I had nothing but jamming problems. I tried every different kind of ammo and still the same thing. I went to a Springfield 1911 Mil-spec and it is very accurate and never has failed, it shot so will I sold my Kimber Stainless Target model. I just believe in buying American products and supporting America. In my opinion Smith & Wesson & Springfield and Ruger make a superior gun. But if you like Taurus more power to you. But you won't find one in my gun collection. :D

You may prefer "American" but that Springfield of yours was mostly made in Brazil, just like the Taurus.

I am more impressed by the Taurus revolver lineup every day.

Taurus has had a lot of QC issues... but over the last 5 years or more, they have really been improving. Like most gun companies - they try to do their best and every so often something slips by.
But what sets Taurus apart from other gun makers with QC issues - Taurus wants to make it's customers happy. Taurus will do everything it can to make it right. This attitude has a great deal of weight with me. I've talked to far too many gun makers who really couldn't care any less about my beefs with a QC issue I had unforutanately discovered....
Two gun makers have stood above the others when it comes to customer service and fixing problems. Taurus is one of them.

as far as taurus QC goes. Their current line of revolvers i would buy. From their current line of semi's i would buy the beretta clones (i own a PT-92 that shoots as well or better than any beretta i have ever picked up.)

I'm not too keen on their new semi's. I still think they need work, but it has been improving.

Taurus Tracker in 10mm. One could use lite 10s or .40s for practice.
The TEN would be smaller and lighter than the 610 and much cheaper.

The new 905 looks promising..any opinions from owners?

I too would like to see another low-barrel, bottom chamber shooting revolver on the market besides the Mateba. I'd ditch the semi-auto function, make it a break action, and you can buy "uppers" in different calibers or barrel sizes, rimmed, auto rim/moon clips, auto ejecting and non ejecting models, kind of like an AR15-M16 family. Catalog direct uppers without FFL once you have the grip/frame.

Something like this, but not so insanely big, or only if you wanted an upper like that... :D

I am not a big anime fan, but this caught my eye...
