I just purchased one of these in used but like new condition.I was curious about the recoil of a .357 mag in such a small package.I fired 50 rounds of 158 grain JHP Blazer ammo and I was surprised the recoil wasn't much and very controllable and accurate.I have tried a lot of smaller handguns and think I may have found the gun that fits me for concealed carry.Just wanted to put some info out there for anyone like me who has been looking for a CCW.

The wife wants the 617. She likes the handle better on that series. Believe it or not, but it feels a bit better than the 605.

The 617 are not as popular as the 605. Dont know why, cause its a 7 shot instead.

We had a 686 that she loved. Shot mostly .38 special and I kept it stoked with .38 sp +P ammo for the house.

Congrats on the purchase. Enjoy.

BTW, welcome to THR. Whereabouts in Ohio? I was born and raised in Lorain.

I don't have the 605, I do own the 617, 85, 851BUL and 608. Of the three snubbies, I like the fit of the 617 the least. The 85 and 85BUL fit better. All three shoot well and I have carried all of them, but the 617 is a handful with 357 magnum loads.

Did you get the concealled hammer model?

Thanks for the replies folks !!!!

Lennyjoe----I am just outside of Zanesville.

Eagle---no I didn't get the concealed hammer model,I like the idea of being more "snagfree" on the draw but I like being able to fire it SA also so I went with the exposed hammer model

I hadn't even heard of or seen the model 617 getting ready to check it out on the website now.

I will definitely stay away from the wood grips !!! I owned two model 85's in the past and really liked the factory grips.

I have put another 50 rounds through this pistol and I'm liking it more and more.

Nice gun denfoote I just got a 605 stainless with the concealed hammer and love it. It fits great in my pocket with a pocket holster. The recoil wasn't as bad as I thought except it climbs up and left when I tried rapid fire. But I figure with only five rounds why rapid fire right?

Thanks Glen.

This is actually my second 305!!
I sold my first one in order to get my wife her carry gun: Kel-Tec P32.
She needs something that can be absolutely concealed without detection, save by a pat down or metal detector. The P32 fits the bill!!
Soon after I made the sacrifice, regret set in, and I just had to have another!!
But, my loving wife's safety was far more important and the sale was worth it!!
She was with me when I bought it!! :D
