I like the gun, I bought it for my dad to try, I carry 1911's and have no need to switch. its a nice gun, others I know love them and thats why I decided to get one for my dad to try.
I have a DAO pt111 millenium pro. It has only malfunctioned once - a FTE using Remington green box FMJ. I'm not sure if it was just a fluke or what, but I consider it to be a reliable gun.
I carried it IWB using a "hidden ally" holster by High Noon holsters. It was comfortable to carry.
The only thing I don't like about it is the trigger. The trigger is fairly smooth, but it is l-o-n-g. I find it hard to shoot accurately. I'm not the only one, my CCW instructor shot it (Philip Van Cleve, President of VCDL) and he didn't think it was particularly accurate either. Now that I've moved to a state that doesn't allow CCW, my next purchase will be an XD45 compact. I have found the trigger on those to be a lot nicer, but they also cost $200 more.
Was that a Millennium Pro? The MilPro mags already have an extension. Last year I picked up a Pearce grip extension (I love their stuff) for a 111 MilPro and found out that it was for the standard PT111 (1st Generation) that has the flat floor plate. It wouldn't fit right with the MilPro and at that time there was nothing for the 111 MilPro.
I love mine shoots well no FTF's low recoil and a extremly concealable gun dont know if ill ever have use for the second chance primer strike but...w/e its nice to have....and i love the trigger!
Have carried a 2nd gen. DAO PT-111 Mil. Pro for ~3 years....
Carries easilly and has been reliable. Had a grand total of 3 failure to fires over ~700 rounds through the pistol. Always with WWB ball and they always popped on the second strike. Rem. UMC and several different HPs all fed and fired 100%. Pistol shot slightly left consistantly. Even off bags. But sights are fixed so I had to compensate. I had a CA model with 10 rd. mag.
I just traded it in for the 3rd gen SA/DA Pt-111 Mil. Pro and I like this one even better. Sights are dovetailed in, but have had no need to touch them. Their spot on. Two 12 round mags. Trigger has long take up, but is much lighter.
I like it a lot, and though I have only put 100 rounds through it, there have been 0 glitches. Break in period? We don't need no stinkin' break in period!
I carry it in a Don Hume pancake and it is very comfy. Just ordered the Hume spare mag, holster as well (now that I actually have a spare mag.). I carry topped off with one in the pipe and the manual thumb safety on. The safety is so easy to swipe off while drawing the weapon from the holster that I carried this way even with my older DAO one.
For the $350 price point, I don't think you can beet it.
I have the PT-140 pro. Excellent gun, use it as my CCW everywhere I go and nobody knows i have it. Very easy to conceal and very reliable. I put around 500rds with not even a jam.
