Taurus Model 63R-SS .22LR: Good, Bad, or Ugly?

I haven't fired mine very much yet, but so far I am happy with it. No feeding or extraction problems with Winchester Wildcats or Dynapoints. I haven't benched it yet, but at about 25 yards offhand I had little trouble keeping the groups right at an inch. The sights were pretty well regulated for me right out of the box, no adjustments needed. I am not at my best with this type of open sight, but it will have to do unless/until I get the optional tang peep sight, since there is no provision for mounting a scope, at least that I know of.

All things considered, I think it is a great deal for a decent copy of one of the handiest plinking rifles ever produced.

Have one in a Winchester. Finish restored to new, so no value. It
came with a Weaver B4 with a N side mt. so restore to new really made sense
at the time. Bore was flawless, Cost out of a pawn shop was $35. Functions great, but not a tac diver like some I own. Looks out of sight,
and is a fun gun to shoot!

Any updates on this very cool semi-auto?

I might be moving to a new state with no chance to go pick up my guns from Texas, so might have an excuse to buy a quirky/fun .22 plinker to tide me over for six months or so.

Anyone have any strong feelings on the 63?

You're either about to tell me you paid that price in 1971, or I'm about to become a very jealous boy. The only guns I've ever bought for $35 were a NEF 12ga (admittedly in great shape), and an EAA .38 revolver (sold as "BROKEN AS-IS and fixed in 10sec with a screwdriver).
