Hey highroad. I just purchased a Taurus Model 66. It has a 4" barrel with full underlug, is blued, has adjustable rear sights and has 6 6 readable when you open the cylinder. (the 6 6 is printed with a space in between). It weighs 32 ounces. It has a nice clean SA&DA pull. But it is only a 6 shot revolver. Can anyone tell me what year it might be or what year Taurus stopped making the Model 66 in six shot. Please advise. Thanks and "Live Large" "In My Mack Bolan Voice). Please send me replies to my email address at: [email protected].

Could not tell you about yours; if it's new enough, you might could track it on the Taurus website. There's an option to plug in your serial number. However, my M66, purchased new in 1987 (4-inch, blued) did not show up when I tried it.

Incidentally, my gun has been a fine performer in the 25 years I've had it. It was my first handgun, purchased the day after I turned 21. It did spend two-plus years running the streets without me after being stolen in a vehicle burglary in 1989. The only issue is that the sleeve on the ejector rod occasionally worked loose, locking the cylinder closed. This happened every couple of hundred fire (dry or live) cycles, but is easily cured with a dab of Loc-Tite.
