Just picked this up yesterday. It is 6 inches long and .92 inches wide at the grip.

It is certainly not handsome but it shoots, shoots well, and shoots fast. I was timed firing 8 rounds in 1.5 seconds from the high ready position (most of them actually hit the target--see torso shots below).

I put 200 rounds through her without any problems. For a full review, please follow the link under my signature.

Any finger extenders available yet?

Love my 709 so far, first new gun ever baught. But can't seem to find an extender for my pinky, can't stand the feel of not having no where for it to go.

no extenders available for it that i've seen and I"ve been looking!

Have y'all had any issues with FTE? I've noticed quite a few issues mentioned on the taurus forum that I'm watching. I've fondled the 709 many times at the gun shop and like it! Still on the fence about getting it so far.

I sent mine back to Taurus yesterday because of a bunch of FTEs. Hopefully it will get resolved. When it works, it works very well.

I must say their customer service agent was very pleasant and easy to work with. They sent Fed Ex to my home to pick the gun up. So I am hopeful it will be fixed and I can carry it

No firearm is perfect. I have owned many Taurus handguns. I have only had one problem in the past with a PT-140. I sent it in and it was returned in great order. I never had another problem.
