Has the Taurus PT 99 AF been approved for the use of occasional + P ammunition? In my manual, the subject is not perfectly clear. On the Taurus Tactical web site, Taurus states that "all of its handguns are approved to shoot +P ammo." I am not sure that would include handguns that are not specifically labeled as tactical handguns.

Thank you for your comments.

Despite what the manual says, the catalog assures that +P is fine for all Taurus semi-autos and revolvers. I'd go with what the catalog says since it is more recent than what has been written in the manuals.

Like anything else though some moderation might be in order. Since the higher pressure rounds will batter the frame and exert harsher forces on parts as well, it might be wise to practice with standard loads. Then practice with 20-30 rounds of +P to stay current with the load you want to carry that may be +P. Less +P means less wear and tear on the gun and user overall.

It isn't how many rounds one puts downrange that makes them a top notch shooter. It's setting reasonable goals that can be achieved for each practice session.

Guess I am saying is that less wear and tear on equipment is what one is looking for.

There have been torture tests of Taurus 92s with +P ammo in the 10,000range and the guns passed with flying colors.
