Hey all-

Just a thanks to everyone who's posted about this gun. After reading a ton of threads and testimonials, I went ahead and got one, and am pleased with it.

I like the ergonomics, the reliability (so far...), the size, the capacity, and - hell I'll say it- the price too. A nice, inexpensive little gun that seems to have outgrown the problems of the original PT145. Not a bad little .45 at all for under 300 bucks (this from a Sig owner, so I guess I'm neither a total cheapskate, nor a gun snob :p ). And even I can shoot decently with it from the get-go.

So thanks again everyone- THR is tops in my book!

I had tried out the Hogue at the range to see if I liked it, and it stayed from then on. :) I find it really does make a great fit for my hand.

The Taurus PT series are really underrated pistols. Surprising considering that the Kel-tec P11s have such a cult following. Only a few oz difference between the two but I find the MP PT111 to be way more shootable ... better trigger, ergonomics and design features.

I got one recently.

It carries great, shoots like a dream. My wife likes it way better than my Kahr P40 and PM9 (and various other pistols). For the money I personally think it's one of the very best deals out there.

But... FWIW, mine Hates Wolf ammo. Jam-O-Matic First Class when I try to use it. Everything else it eats like it was starving.

Enjoy your bargain.

Not all that surprising considering the problems with the first generation of Millenium pistols (cracking frames and frame pins).

Looks like Taurus has got their stuff together though, I haven't read any complaints about these pistols since the "Pro" series came out.

SHHHHhhhhh...

Must... not... summon... denfoote... again... ;)

(Told you I read a ton of PT145 threads!)

:D

Oh, one more thing that I like about this gun is the little dent in the frame where you can put your fingertip as you rest your finger against the frame- nifty.

I've been a dedicated 1911 guy for 30 years ... my wife picked up a PT-145 a couple years ago ... I've bought -- and sold -- 3 Glocks ... The PT-145 is the only plastic handgun, and DAO handgun, I've ever liked. It's accurate (surprisingly so) and totally reliable. What's most important is, my wife shoots it well, and carries it ...

I used to carry the Kel-Tec P11 in 9mm as a BUG to all my .45acp primary carries.....then I saw the PT-145 Millennium Pro with that little light rail and fell in love. Of course it did'nt hurt that it was in my favorite caliber. They had the stainless and black. I have had some stainless guns but I prefer blue/black in my carry weapons. All my hunting handguns are stainless though. I bought the black PT-145 and some 3000 rounds later I wish I had bought more to give to my sons. Mine has been flawless and for a gun that cost less than 300.00 I cannot believe that the accuracy is so good and it actually shoots to point of aim out to 20 yards. I really like the gun so much it serves as my daily office carry and always a BUG to my primary 1911's. Thank you Taurus for proving that a great gun does not have to be fancy or cost an arm and a leg.

does your hogue slip? I couldnt get mine to stay on the grip kept moving..

Back when I had a Hogue Handall on my Steyr, it slowly slipped out of position horizontally. Never adjusted it as it always felt ok when grasping it.

Call me a fan.

I own lots of .45s (about 9 of them). I really haven't shot a .45 I didn't like. Fell in love with a Mil-Pro PT-145 about 6 months ago. I found it to be the best carry gun (for me) I ever experienced. I bought a second one, so I never have to be without one.

I previously owned the Glock 30 and 36 and was even formerly a Kel Tec fan in the quest for the perfect carry gun. I almost don't believe how nice the Mil-Pro is. I've recently re-shot my other .45s side by side with the Taurus and even tried carrying some of the others again. The Mil-Pro is still tops.

If I wanted a 9mm or .40 for carry, I'd certainly try the Mil-Pros in those calibers.

I got mine this week and was very happy with the way it performed. Quality is also very high for a pistol this inexpensive (I bought mine for $268  ). The first rounds I put though it were +p 185 gr and while accurate the muzzel flip was substantial. I was a little worried until I shot some WWB 230gr and found those to be very easy and soft to shoot. I made a posting yesterday about having a couple of rounds not fire which I'm hoping was a bad box of ammo but it really brought out the advantage of the DA trigger. Pull the trigger a second time and "bang"! It's a lot quicker than racking the slide. I also heard some conflicting reports on how smooth the trigger was. I'm happy to say mine is very smooth, yeah it's a little long but I'm used to my PM9 so I took to it quickly. I bought a Galco USA IWB tuckable holster for it. It's made for a PT140 and Galco said it was not approved for the PT145 but I took a chance and ordered it anyway. It was a very tight fit so I removed the two leather support strips on the inside near the end of the muzzle. I wet the outside of the holster with some water, inserted the gun and let it sit for a few hours. The holster now fits perfectly and I am carrying it for the first time today :D

Yeah, after I trimmed it (Hogue Handall) a bit at the bottom to fit it does slip a bit over the course of a range session. I figure if it eventually gets too loose I'll try something to keep it in place, or just drop $9 on a new grip every now and again (as it really does quite improve my grip comfort).

Steelhead once posted here on THR that this gun seems to accept Para P14 mags just fine, and enjoyed the added 14+1 capacity at the range? Any more word on this or a followup?

(although it's sadly a moot point for me where I currently am  )

Try hairspray on the inside of the grip, I heard it holds it in place but is easily removed with hot water. I cannot say I have tried it but it may be worth a shot.
