It was working fine until the slide traveled too far forward and locked so tight the gunsmith had to cut the pin holding the barrel. The bottom of the barrell's link had been sheared off. There were no pieces of metal found and the rest of the pistol is in good condition. (The gunsmith is also baffled.)
I was shooting in a match so I have witnesses that know there was nothing unusual occuring prior to the failure.
I could not get help from Taurus because I use reloaded ammo thus negating a free fix. Also, since a live round was trapped in it, I can't ship it anywhere.

We'll assume that, if the gunsmith freed the barrel, the round is no longer there? If so, the gun could go back to Taurus. Otherwise, have the gunsmith fit a new barrel and link to it, and go on with it.

I had a Colt Series 80 Government Model do the same thing in 1989-1990. So, it does happen.

JR 47...that can't happen on a Colt...only a cheap Taurus...sarcasm...I own both and find them both nice pistols and shooters...
