I have just purchased a new Taurus Raging Bull 44 Magnum. It has the 8 3/8" barrel in stainless steel. I haven't even shot the pistol yet but am very hopeful of its potential being used for whitetail deer and hogs, hogs being the primary reason for the purchase. I'm looking for some quality people giving quality answers to the question, "What's the best ammo for either or both situations?"

Feeding the "Raging" Taurus.

I did it too. I'll be watching your replies and responses. Thanks for the post Dao.

I've had a Taurus M44 since the early 90's. It's been a real good shooter. It ain't for sale. That's a compliment because I also have an Anaconda.

I'm partial to the 240 JHP. Can get the speed with the knockdown weight.

Welcome to the board, there's some good experienced info here. Mac.

I was looking to buy one of this but a lot of unhappy Taurus owners have change my mind.

The Raging Bulls are the best, stoutest handguns Taurus has ever made.

Now, how much of a compliment that is I'll leave up to you.

240 grain semi jacketed hollow point. Remington, Winchester, Federal, who ever as long as its a company you've heard of.

With proper placement you could do either with cast lead loads.

Most of the hogs killed at the Game Management Area this past year, that were hunter logged, were 150 Lbs. or less but I have found wallows that were made by hogs 150 to 200 lbs. I also have read, that in past years, hogs up to 500 Lbs. have been killed according to internet resources. Might want to just throw the pistol at them and take off running to the nearest tree! I'll see how much monkey I have in me if or when I cross that bridge! Oh yeah, thats right, excluse me while I "Man Up". Forgot I have the Mighty 44 Mag!
