Cleaning a Taurus Raging Bull Stainless .44 Magnum Revolver. Help!!

Hello all.

I have a question. I recently purchased a .44 Magnum stainless steel revolver.

Great shooting but a real PITA to clean. The breach end of the barrel, the front face of the cylinder, and ports on the muzzle of the barrel get this filthy black fouling that really sucks to remove.

I have found that Flitz takes it off but not without a lot of scrubbing.

Does anyone have a better method for cleaning this nasty carbon fouling off of the gun.

I use the kleen-Bore lead away cloth. (Midway and other places sell them). Works well on removing the carbon from stainless guns. It will damage bluing though so confine it's use to stainless. HTH.

Slip 2000 Carbon Killer is great for SS. It really does work.

I'm quite unconventionable so disregard if you like, but I give my handguns a good soaking, cleaning, and bath in diesel in a little plastic tub. That's the only gun cleaner I ever buy. Cheap and works great. I blow off with an air hose afterwards then wipe dry. Just enough to immerse your gun is good for several cleanings.

Don't bother trying to get it all off.
It will come back as soon as you shoot the gun anyway.

Just scrub off what you can easily get off with gun oil or bore cleaner and leave it alone. It won't hurt anything.

Diesel!!! I love it!!! My old man thinks that diesel is the magic liquid. He uses diesel for everything.

Dogs have fleas? A good diesel bath will take care of that. Got a nasty cut? Diesel will keep it from getting infected.

I thought the old guy was just a little weird. I'm glad to see that someone else is proclaiming the valuable uses of diesel!

I wonder if diesel fuel will take paint off.

I guess just dunking the gun for a little while will clean it.
