Hi,
I'm trying to add a trigger stop to my dao 608 Taurus by drilling and tapping a hole in the trigger, like the way it is on my Davis PPC revolver. The drill bits cut thru the surface metal fine, but the inside of the metal is super hard. I ended up breaking 3 No.40 drill bit, and still only barely go thru the surface. I'm using a hand drill and $3 drill bits from hardware store. Is this typical? Do I need some kind of special drill bit?

Well, you could grind a hole with a carbide dental bur, or a carbide drill.
But that would still leave the trigger too hard to tap..

You might consider clamping the working (sear) end in a smooth face vice to act as a heat sink.

Then spot anneal where you want the hole with a small gas torch tip.

It will either make it soft enough to drill & tap.
Or it will make it even harder then it is now!

The other option might be to forget the screw.
Cut a short length of drill rod and put it inside the rebound slide spring like S&W used to do.

It will take a bunch of trial & error fitting to get it exactly the right length to stop the trigger where you want it too, but it should do the deed once you do get it right.

My Taurus doesn't have S&W's rebound slide mechanism. So rod in rebound slide won't work.

Didn't realize it'd be this difficult. I guess I'll do the pencil eraser method.

Is this a MIM thing?

I think Taurus triggers are now MIM, and MIM parts are hard all the way through, not just case hardened like the old S&W and Taurus parts. You can install a stop by drilling and tapping a hole in the rear of the trigger guard, or by milling a slot behind the trigger and installing a stop the way S&W used to do them, but either would, IMHO, be a job for a pro with the right equipment.
