Taurus Revolvers????

I have an Interarms Rossi .38 spl. Great gun! I haven't had very good quality from the Taurus made Rossi revolvers though. My question is are Taurus revolvers a better quality gun? They cost more than Rossi, but I have never had any experience with Taurus. Any help would be great.

i have had 3 taurus revolvers that have all been flawless.

I've owned 8 Taurus revolvers...had problems with 5 of them (all model 85s) and got rid of them, this was about 12 years ago. The others I sold to make room for other pistols. Had no problems with my model 94 (22LR) and 941 (22Mag) and the other was a model 66 (.357).

I owned an Interarms SS Rossi .38 that my mother now has for HD and it has been a great little shooter. I personally won't purchase a new Taurus being soured by past experiences...I don't know much about the new Rossi firearms manufactured under Taurus.

I love revolvers but would only purchase an older model Smith or Ruger if I was in the market for a wheelie. Now I rely on my Ruger P95 for fun at the range and HD...will also carry it concealed when I get my permit.

I've had good luck with Taurus revolvers, I have four and have had no
problems with any of them. My favorite of the bunch is a Model 66 4"
.357 Magnum seven shot. It is a tackdriver at the range and it is my
nightstand gun. I would buy another Taurus revolver if the mood hit
me but I would have second thoughts about their semiautos.

The 2 I have owned were well worth the money. The first was a 44C, A small frame .44mag with a fully shrouded ported 4" barrel. Great shooter and easily concealed but to expensive to feed.Traded it to a Ruger GP100.

Second is a J-frame sized model 85 ultralight .38 that is my warm weather CC piece.

Cant testify to a Rossi though, never owned one or knew anyone that owned one.

I had a Taurus 617 titanium 357 snubbie that was a POS. I have a 941 22wwmr that has been perfect, but niether are Smith or Ruger quality.

I've had a bunch of Taurus revolvers past and present. They were all ok, but the triggers were all mediocre at best. The worst trigger was on a model 85 CH. The finishes are thin, IMO, but hey - they can be hundreds less than S&W & Ruger depending on the model...

It might help if you gave a more on what your looking for in a revolver. I come from Taurus Land of sorts and know where the info on the various models are and from the actual owners besides here.

Otherwise were going with broad brush stroking the whole brand and that's ridiculous. I can go through the archives here and at several other gun forums and bring you back the overwhelming cases of other brands and their troubles. Case by case. Recalls and single case failures and can rightly claim that based on those that all the other brands, that includes Les Baer, as all being garbage.

I also own a goodly number of Tauri revolvers and a Rossi 462.

I've got 3 older Tauri. Models 65,66,and a 85CH. These are older than 25 years old and are all still giving sterling service. I can bring 85 pages of links from the satisfied owners.

Recently I bought a new model 66,82,327, two model 865s,a 941, and a new 94. No problems with any of them.

So lets pick a model. The facts about that model can be brought forth and then the people who are really interested about Taurus guns can find out for themselves.

I am going to watch this with some interest because something is not going to pass the smell test.

I owned a Taurus 66 6" and while it was my first revolver, I didn't fall in love with it, I felt like the craftsmanship of it was a little sub par, the front sight was also bent slightly.
Many people will say they're amazing, problably just as many will say they are trash.
They do come with a lifetime warranty, but I've heard their customer service is bad.

I would suggest you save up a few more dollars and buy a Ruger, or try and get a used colt or smith.

Awe, jeez, another one? Do a search on the subject. There are haters, personally, I love my 3 Taurus revolvers, fantastic weapons. No need to waste any more band width with another taurus bash.....:banghead:

I like their little .38s, I got an older used hammerless one at a pawn shop years ago that worked great. That one went with my sister when she moved to the big city. I recently bought a brand new .38 ultra light for my girlfriend, it also works great. Good price for functional little revolvers.
