I saw one of these babies at the Shot Show in Jan 2005. Put one on order when I got home. Waited for the rest of 2005---no gun. Tuarus is late. Then people on the internet started talking about shooting them and problems. Apparently at the end of 2005 a few were released to the cowboy shooter world. Then Nothing! Next, mid 2006 magazines are testing them and Taurus's web site says "Available" but a different dealer where I left a deposit this time says he can not get them. He is a very long time knowledgeable dealer with "friends" in the industry and a big shop with lots of guns, especially cowboy types.

This all leads up to this weekend at a So Cal gunshow. Some San Diego dealer has five of them, all "pre-production", new in the box. His people claim they snatched these up (from where?) and real production guns are still delayed. Labor problems in Brazil (???). I hate pre-production anything because it usually means troubles so i passed.

What is happening????? Anyone got the real story? Magazines testing them. Pre-production guns offered. Taurus says Available. Will I ever be able to buy a regular production version, in my lifetime?

That is funny.....I bought one over 6months ago in Pittsburgh and the dealer had two. Not pre-production models.

There WAS some talk about short firing pins on the early production models but that has been corrected for some time now.

Is it possible that there is some CA weirdness going on here? Far as I know, they have been selling well and there might be shortages but the 45LC version is definately in production.

Colt Lightning Clone

I saw one at Dominion Outdoors in Stuart's Draft Va. They had only the one, but they stated they could get additional ones.
