I picked up a TX22 a few weeks ago after playing with a few in the local stores. For $275 OTD it was hard to pass up the opportunity to acquire a striker-fired .22 that functions much like its larger centerfire relatives.

The gun is extremely light weight but it handles extremely well. The grip is ergonomic and has a texture that is "grippy" but not too abrasive.

The trigger on my example is surprisingly crisp, although it could use a few thousand more rounds to loosen things up a bit. Not to worry there - the gun comes with two 16-round magazines (10 round where restricted) and spare magazines are available from $17-22 each from various retailers. The mags are plastic with built-in ears on each side to assist in loading. These ears are not at all hard to pull down and hold. The last round does take a little push to get seated fully in the mag though. Once that's done, it's easy to empty the magazine in a hurry. So far my TX22 hasn't experienced so much as a hiccup over the course of several hundred rounds at least - no misfires, no jammed brass, no misfeeds from the magazine. It just shoots.

I thought the threaded adaptor (1/2x28) included in the box was a really nice touch, although there was no wrench in the box to pull off the thread protector. I am considering purchasing a silencer for this gun, but the lack of availability in taller sights will complicate this (the gun has the same proprietary sights as the G2C).

The picture below shows a rather sloppy target from 10 yards. I didn't keep track of how many rounds I fired, but it was at least 8 magazines (128 rounds). I started out shooting for accuracy but the gun was so fun to shoot that I ended up shooting faster and faster until there was a large cloud of smoke hanging in front of me.

This will be an equally fun gun for an experienced shooter or someone new to firearms. I will definitely be having some fun with mine and will also be occasionally using it to teach a new shooter as well. 20190621_115311.jpg

Glad you're liking your new TX22. Mine has been completely trouble free for 500 rounds. It's really fun to shoot. I only load 10 at a time to try to make the shooting experience last a little longer.

Mine has the mild 'chattering' in the barrel but it doesn't seem to pose a problem for me. I think I'll be shooting my 9mms less and the .22s more. I'm just out to have fun, so shooting .22 is just a more fun and I'm more accurate with it.

I too took a chance on the TX22. My last 2 Taurus purchases left me bitter, but I love this little gun!

I have 720 rounds through mine so far. I've feed it everything from 20 year old junk ammo I had in a leather pouch in the back of the safe to Federal automatch, Federal bulk, Remington bulk, CCI mini mags, CCI stingers, Winchester super X, etc. I have had 1 failure to feed on some Remington sub sonic Green box and had the same issue in another gun, so I think it was more an ammo OAL issue than an issue with the pistol.

I'm no marksman, but I submitted an entry in the rim fire challenge with my TX22 and was pretty happy with it.

Editing to say that I've also never cleaned this gun. Over 700 rounds straight from the box with 1 hang up.

I got one a couple weeks back. took it shooting 2 weekends ago. had 4 jams, but once I ran 60 + or so rounds through it stopped having issues. I was shooting 40gr. cci mini mags round nose copper plated and Winchester super x 40 gram round nose copper plated. I wrote it off as break in and being a taurus.:) kidding. it's a decently built gun.

I didnt find loading it hard at all even the last rounds in my two mags.

nice cheaper little shooter. I was just plinking cans on my acreage, but quite accurate up to 35ft. that I was shooting at distance wise.

only got it due to higher cap mags. already have plenty of .22lr pistols to play with.

I heard dry firing doesnt harm it, but I don't know that to be true and I dont dry for it. anyone know for sure? I also didnt see anything in the manual about that, but I skimmed parts of it that werent about proper use and disassembly/reassembly etc.

Dry firing won't hurt this gun. In fact, you have to pull the trigger to disassemble it.

Thanks for the review of your new TX22! Always interested in another compact .22 plinker.

If you have any concerns regarding dry firing you can always use small dry wall anchors to act as snap caps for your .22. Almost identical in size to a .22LR round and all you have to do is occasionally rotate them so the rim doesn't get worn down from too many firing pin strikes.
