I'm considering my options to improve the trigger on my Tavor. For those familiar with the rifle, you know the stock 11 pound pull is a beast. I know the aftermarket trigger packs are good (I tried the pricey Geissele, really like it, and may eventually buy it).

That said, the simple removal of the spring from the stock sear mechanism lowers the trigger pull from 11 to about 8 lbs. This spring is apparently redundant.

Have any of you done this to your Tavor? If so what has been your experience? I normally wouldn't feel comfortable augmenting a stock component like this, but the Geissele Super Sabra doesn't even have this spring to begin with, so I tend to think the redundancy is unnecessary as I won't be using my Tavor in Gaza-like conditions.

Tim at MAC did this mod and has had good results with it. This is documented on his Youtube channel.

Apparently the return spring exists to ensure reliability in the event the trigger pack gets extremely fouled with sand.

Thank you Fishbed. Tim's vid on MAC was the first vid I watched on this subject. So I assume I can confidently remove the spring. I'll give it a try this week and report back.

I took mine out and liked it a lot. Then I broke down and bought an aftermarket trigger, I forget the name - not gieselle though. It is fine and much lighter but honesty I don't know that I actually like it any better than the stock trigger without the sand spring. The stock pull is actually quite crisp on mine.... Just heavy with the sand spring.
