As I've posted before, I am the proud owner of a 1978 Wingmaster TB. Here lately I have noticed that after about four rounds of trap my cheek is giving me quite a bit of pain from recoil. I am shooting it a lot more lately, more often and more rounds at a time. I have also lost about 10 pounds since I got it which might make my cheek bone contact the stock a little more than it used to. I notice that to stack the beads the way I like, my cheek is pretty much buried in the stock. It is the Monte Carlo trap stock.. Any suggestions from any other Remington trap shooters what might give me some relief and don't anybody say, try a different gun because I am in love with this one! Besides, the budget can't afford it:( Modifications, pads, adjustments? Whatever.

The trick for me was technique. With help, I made sure I was behind the gun, etc (read Dave McC's threads). I then addressed gun fit. On my Classic Trap (MC stock) I added 1/2", about a 1/4" more drop and a little cast off. Fits me perfect. for my Express, I added 1" and a larger pad(better for those hunting/HD loads).
Hopefully there is someone local to you that can watch you shoot and offer some advice as to what you need to change. Hopefully is just a software issue, as they are usually cheaper to correct.

Lighter loads for starters. I could shoot 6 rounds of trap/wobble with hard contact between my zygomatic arch(Cheekbone) and the top of the M/C comb on my TB and not feel anything after. 7/8 oz loads rule.

Where's the POI/POA? Most TBs shoot a little flat, shimming in a little less drop at cheek may help also IF your POI isn't real high now. Most 870 trap guns shoot fairly flat for a trap gun, something like 55/45 or 60/40. Setting it up a little higher is easy to try and see what happens...

Well, I have been shooting some of my heavier 1 1/8 loads 'cause some of the guys I shoot with like the back fence! Its hard to work on consistancy when we move back and forth a lot and a 1300 FPS 1 1/8 isn't helping! I do have several light loads that I like better. A 1 oz and a 7/8.

As far as POI, I'm not really sure. I need to check that don't I. When I crush the bird it seems to be just hanging over the front bead which is higher than any gun I've ever had before. I always need to cover the target with my Red Label.

I am going to be very busy the next few weeks so there isn't going to be any more time for shooting or experimentation unfortunately. I will need to check these things and see how it works out
