Last year I got a new neighbor and he likes to shoot! He watched our house while we went to Florida for 3 months and tool care of our horses also. He would not take anything for it so I order a complete set of dies and conversion setup for my Dillon 550B for 380 and 40 S&W. He came over last night and he loaded his first 100 rounds of 40 S&W. I am really enjoying teaching him to reload which I have been doing since 1971. Once he get more bench time in handgun loading I will teach him how to load rifle rounds. Life is good!!!!

It’s a huge advantage to have someone show you how to set up a press and go through the reloading process. Watching videos and reading instruction manuals is just not the same.

That's great! Sounds like a good foundation. May it continue with you both for many years to come.

I always take care of my neighbors. To bad I did not have one to help me learn to reload :(
Good for you. I am sure he is as grateful for you as much as you are for him.

I'm really happy for you. All my neighbors and friends want to do is ask me to buy the supplies and do the loading, and buy the rounds from me at cost, so they can shoot cheap. I won't do that. I will teach them and let them use my equipment if they are interested but I won't be taken advantage of or made to do something illegal. Mostly taken advantage being 80% of it.
I would love to have someone to teach.

It sounds like you have a real good neighbor, Charlie1022. And you sound like a real good neighbor to have. Besides that, I’m a believer in the following quote:

“If you want to learn something, read about it. If you want to understand something, write about it. If you want to master something, teach it.”
Yogi Bhajan

Not that you haven’t already “mastered” handloading, having done it since 1971, but I’m betting you’ll learn something new about it as you teach it. That’s the way it’s always worked for me anyway - whenever I set out to teach someone else about anything, I end up learning something new.:)

I always enjoy teaching someone else the art of reloading. I even teach a class at the local rifle range when needed. IMHO it is almost as fun as shooting ammo. I also will not just make ammo for others but will extend the use of my tools and expertise to help them reload their own ammo using their supplies. This I find mostly weeds out the freeloaders, so those that are left are usually motivated to start on their own eventually if not rite away. I try to get them to take that cylinder or MAG of newly made ammo outside and shoot it off. That always brings out a smile.
