im well aware of reliability issues with this gun. i polished the hammer and found good mags that work great. the only problem i have is the top cover opening at random times when shooting it. if i hold it down with my other hand it runs no problem. is there anyting i can do short of duct taping it shut? lol
 
I've never seen one of these in person but it looks like you open the top by pressing a release on the back. Is the tab worn or the latch spring weak? Some pics of that area might help.
 
Yeah I'm with Mooseman, sounds like either a worn spring or takedown latch.
 
I'll try to get some pics up. the latch is connected at the back of recoil spring. im thinking when the bolt slams forward the spring compresses just enough to let the top open up. maybe a new recoil spring might help?
 
Sorry I couldn't help you more. I don't own a Tec22 but actually went to another forum I visit to try and get the info for you.

Glad you sorted it out though, from most reports I've read the Tec22 isn't as bad as lots of guys will try and tell you.
