Tell me about the Beretta BM-59 (or Springfield)

Oooo.... I dig that Para and the Civvie version.

Anyone have one or a BM-62? What's a good price on one of these?

For some reason I've always wanted a "tanker" garand and certainly don't want to convert an M1. I suppose buying one that's already butchered is less of a crime...:uhoh: :D

Well.... I can tell you that I had one of the original ones, and like the fool that I have been with so many now rare firearm specimens, I traded it away.

:banghead: :banghead:

Very nice rifle. Fun to shoot and felt pretty much like the short M1 Garand it sprang from.

Mags are expensive - $50 for one in mediocre condition is what you'll usually find. Prices for the rifles are steep too; around $2000 (or $12k for a full-auto one... ).

For just shooting, I don't know of any reason to get a BM-59 instead of an M1A. They are very cool, though, and that's plenty of reason to get one if you can afford it.

BM69

I have a BM69 and I love it. The only difference between it and the 59 is the muzzle device. Mine was changed to the short 59 Brake without the bayonet lug. A beatifuly made rifle and fun to shoot.

Help!

I just bought what I thought was a Springfield M1A Bush rifle - but on closer inspection it has what looks to be a BM-59 barrel, no stripper clip guide, a funky flash suppressor/muzzle break that is 1.5" long and has holes all over, stacking swivels, and takes M1A magazines. Black Synthetic stock, and the only markings are on the rear of the receiver:

Cal 30 M1
Springfield

What do I have?

That's not a BM 59 if it takes M-14/M-1A mags.

It sounds like a M-1 Garand that has been modified to accept M-14 mags to me. You'll see those around now and then. I know several different gunsmiths have done that conversion in the past. I don't know if anyone is making those now though.

To all

I have acquired a BM59 and am trying to set it up to my satisfaction.I have purchased the correct folding stock and am trying with little success to find a scope mount.I don't want an offset garand type am looking for one that mounts directly over the receiver like the MIA can anyone help?
