I've never fired one, but reports are that they are much better on full-auto than the M14.

Anyone have one or a BM-62? What's a good price on one of these?
For some reason I've always wanted a "tanker" garand and certainly don't want to convert an M1. I suppose buying one that's already butchered is less of a crime...

Well.... I can tell you that I had one of the original ones, and like the fool that I have been with so many now rare firearm specimens, I traded it away.

Mags are expensive - $50 for one in mediocre condition is what you'll usually find. Prices for the rifles are steep too; around $2000 (or $12k for a full-auto one...

For just shooting, I don't know of any reason to get a BM-59 instead of an M1A. They are very cool, though, and that's plenty of reason to get one if you can afford it.

I just bought what I thought was a Springfield M1A Bush rifle - but on closer inspection it has what looks to be a BM-59 barrel, no stripper clip guide, a funky flash suppressor/muzzle break that is 1.5" long and has holes all over, stacking swivels, and takes M1A magazines. Black Synthetic stock, and the only markings are on the rear of the receiver:

That's not a BM 59 if it takes M-14/M-1A mags.
It sounds like a M-1 Garand that has been modified to accept M-14 mags to me. You'll see those around now and then. I know several different gunsmiths have done that conversion in the past. I don't know if anyone is making those now though.

I have acquired a BM59 and am trying to set it up to my satisfaction.I have purchased the correct folding stock and am trying with little success to find a scope mount.I don't want an offset garand type am looking for one that mounts directly over the receiver like the MIA can anyone help?
