I just got a Springfield Loaded in 9mm, and took it to the range today (it worked flawlessly). However, when loading the 9-round magazines I have, a tenth round can almost fit in, and there is a good bit of empty space in the bottom of the magazine, maybe an inch or more.

Does anyone make 10 round 9mm magazines for 1911s?

You risk over compressing the spring, but it'd be pretty easy to cut off a bit from the follower so the 10th round would fit and move down enough to insert with the slide closed.

I've done this to one of my 7 used SIG P220 mags I got from CDNN so I could load exactly 50 rounds into the 7 nominally 7-round .45ACP mags. No troubles so far.

If anyone makes 'em it'd be Mec-Gar, thy their web site www.mec-gar.com

Nobody makes 10 round 9mm magazines. I have a Colt that will feed 9mm from the 10 round McCormick .38 Super magazines... but also have a Springfield that won't.

Magazine makers keep teasing us with plans for a 10 shot magazine, but haven't delivered. The taper of the 9mm P case makes it a difficult project.

There is no usable empty space in the bottom of the magazine. The spring has to go somewhere and there must be a little slack if you want to be able to insert a loaded magazine under a closed slide.

I think ckeckmate made some. I saw some at a gunshow but did not get them because I purchased Colt mag's instead.
