it's a shame that Paul McCartney and his other friends in the entertainment industry didn't intervene and try to get help for him before this happened.
More of a shame that his friends will feel, or possibly be made to feel, like they should have done more to stop his selfish cowardly act

No pity for suicides here, I've seen the devastation they leave behind

maybe he was just aiming for the part of his brain that made him want to pursue a career in music. i believe it's right next to the "delusions of grandeur" area.

I guess that is perfectly placed shot theory. I would be interested to find out what kind of rifle it was. Somehow I don't think my .20 Silver Streak would do it, but I'm not about to try. I also have no sympathy, empathy, or respect for the selfish ones that off themselves or try to.

It strikes me that the blast of compressed air in the brain cavity probably did more damage than the actual pellet. The pellet probably only made an opening (if even just by cracking the bone) to let in, what, 4-500 psi air?

I myself don't appreciate the "Nelson Muntz" type of humor that prevailed in the early part of this thread. :(

And actually, that's the only reason I'm posting this at all.

Exactly. I had to check and make sure the URL I was at was entered correctly. I thought I might have inadvertently entered "the LOW road".

I don't feel sorry for the guy. I DO feel sorry for the people who will have to deal with the aftermath. Suicide is not a subject of humor to me. I doubt that it is to his friends and family, either.

Do we really want to talk about the best place to aim to commit suicide, or try to analyze the damage done and speculate on which weapons would be best for the task? We don't, do we? I didn't think so.

Sheesh.
