Well, what is the scenario? Nuclear bomb? Civil war? People vs government?

Well, what is the scenario? Nuclear bomb? Civil war? People vs government?
All of the above. Any scenario where the rules and expectations of the world we used to know are changed. There is no civil authority attempting to maintain order. Complete break down of the economy, transport, food supply, power, communications, etc. There are no controls on peoples' behavior, except self-control, control imposed by the environment and/or other people in the immediate area.

Well if that's the case, then I'd try to assemble a very large fighting force and get as many arms as possible. Doesn't matter what kind of arms as long as it can shoot something. Then, we would try to organize our selves into squads, fireteams, platoons, and then organize our weaponry into what we need to have in order to win battles. An organized force will be easily able to raid gun stores and get the neccessary items for war. So you're hungry now? Easy. We can raid Farmer Jack, fortify it, and then eat until we have to carry our bellies in a wheel barrow. :D

I think the hardest part would be organizing during the chaos and teaching dummies a thing or two about warfare and how to make it out alive. :uhoh:

Kal-

I would imagine that should SHTF ever come to pass...war and strife would be its own teacher...and a hard one at that.

"Juns."

"We must fight!"

"No we must flee!!!!"

I'll vote for bugging out with a group and farming/trading. I'm gonna assume a scenario where, during the first couple of months, I'd shelter in place and then bugout as the situation showed no signs of getting better. Flexibility will always be the key. I'm prepared to bug, but I won't be fleeing in panic either. The only scenario I can think of that would result in a need to bugout without delay and without making contact with other people would be a doomsday plague of some type. Other than that, I'd stick with my friends in our mountain man club (name not mentioned here for obvious OPSEC reasons) and our local SASS group (lots of us are in both) and bug out in an organized fashion.

Although we have no formal plan of action, those who live nearest would probably go to our site, set up, and organize parties to assist other members in getting there, acting much like the tribe we consider ourselves to be (don't ask, it's a sekrit Mountain Man initiation and I can't say anything about it here). There's enough military, backwoods and hunting experience that we'd be able to get that part of the job done. There's a broad enough skill base that we'd probably have lots of services to trade as well as being able to hunt and farm. We have some doctors and nurses, a dentist, law enforcement, a blacksmith, etc.

The only trouble would be that it would take *very* bad scenario to pull most of us away from our normal duties in the community.

Actually, it would be more of a combination of #3 and #4 for me (that's why I chose #4). Just because something happens to end civilization as we know it doesn't mean that civilization shouldn't be rebuilt. The sooner one gets back in to the centers of civilization and saves what is left, the less there is to rebuild from scratch.
