Terrible Day Of Vacation

My condolences. Putting down a family pet is extremely difficult. I know from experience. OTOH, I once stopped a dog fight by getting the aggressor (100lb Malamute) in a choke hold. I doubt though that I would want to try that with a pit bull. You did the right thing ...

Gee Guy's-

Again many thanks for the kind word's regarding my loss'es. God knows,
thats the first animal of any kind that I've ever killed in my life. Twice
yesterday, I turned and walked away; all the time thinking I can't let
the other poor dog suffer~! Even as I made the trip into the house to
retrieve the weapon, I had doubts as to whether or not I could carry
through with my plans? Finally, with the encouragement and backing
of my wife I was able to stop the fight. Upon the pit bulls death, I
diposed on his body properly by caring him to a local vet for cremation.
Again, many thanks for all the understanding and support you fine folks
have shown. Its in the highest regards of the THR community.

As to the #2 pit bull (victim of the attack), this AM he is up and about;
although weak from loss of blood, I believe he will be able to make a
full recovery. I even bought him a special treat, four packs of weiners
that he and the part doberman-rottweiler shared peacefully.

Update on the car: white on white 1996 4-door Buick Century with
Alabama plate 1A-5293W, maroon or burgundy interior, and very
minor damage to the left rear quarter panel near the tail light lens
cover. No word has been received as of 12 PM (CDT) on 11-19-06.
I intend to check the area hospital parking deck, as lots of times
after a vechile serves its intended use; they are dumped here for
some unknown reason. I personally have recovered other persons
vechiles myself in this same area. I will meeting with my Alfa Ins.
agent on Monday, with the title and police report in my hand. Also,
I will keep my THR family informed as to the progress in this ongoing
investigation.

The dogs must have been arguing over who dropped the ball and let the car get stolen. A good guard dog would be shamed over letting that happen.

Sorry to hear how everything has turned out, but things happen for a reason. When my SUV was stolen a few years back, I ended up buying a nicer car and once the suv was recovered, I was able to buy it back for 900 bucks. I drove it all winter beating the heck outta it and sold it in spring for 1200 bucks. Sure, I was out all the stereo equipment that was in there, and I had to start the truck with a screwdriver, and the doors wouldn't lock, but I had fun with it.

As far as your pooch, it could have ended up worse. At least no people were injured or killed. You need to put as much of a positive spin on it as you can, or you'll drive yourself crazy thinking about the negative. Sorry for your loss.
