Toxic gas kills 2

Toxic gas killed Iraqi civilians for the second time in two days.

A car bomb laced with poisonous gas exploded near a hospital in southwestern Baghdad's Bayaa neighborhood Wednesday, killing two civilians and wounding seven others.

Twenty-three other civilians were hospitalized with respiratory problems caused from the noxious gases.

On Tuesday, a cloud of deadly toxic gas engulfed an Iraqi town, killing six people and leaving dozens of others choking on fumes after a tanker carrying chlorine exploded outside a restaurant.

An Iraqi Interior Ministry official said the blast in the town of Taji, 12 miles (20 kilometers) north of Baghdad, was caused by a bomb on board the tanker.

I feel for a lot of the people there who just want to get
on with their lives and get Iraq going again..

One of the worse nightmares I've had is hearing about
chemicals being used. Of course the worst being
a thermal nuclear meltdown.
 
Oh, well yeah. A gun is basically a personal defense weapon. So when guns are banned, people will only have offensive weapons left, like bombs and gas.

I dont get why everyone is worried about school shootings, once guns get banned (which will happen), kids will just go bomb or gas the school. A gas attack would be easy as hell, it's not too hard to make a poisonous gas.

Hell, all one would have to is put an air freshener in the air ducts, and then go write a note saying it's cynanide, and the school would be closed down for like at least a week.

If they really do succeed in "taking guns out of the hands of criminals" they'll just move onto more effecive mass killing means, like this.

Interesting, though.
 
This is pretty piss-poor evidence that there are active terrorists using true chemical weapons right now.

The major state using chemical weapons right now is...well, us.
 
It was chlorine gas, easily found all across this great nation of ours.
If I recall, they blew up a car bomb next to a tanker filled with chlorine gas. I'll try to dig it up the link.

Your city water department has chlorine gas, stored in small and large tanks, in use in many locations in your towns as does your water treatment plant. So, I guess that your town is full of WMD. Right?
I worked for our city water dept. and our water treatment dept. for years. We had classes on how to deal with chlorine gas.

Um, you said "right now" in your previous post. Vietnam ended before most veterans of the current war were born.


If by "right now" you're referring to White Phosphorus, I'd disagree that it's a "chemical weapon". Weapon? Yes. Made out of Chemicals? Yes. Chemical Weapon? No.

It's not like mustard gas where it causes your body to have some untoward reaction, WP just work because it's freakin' hot as blazes. Usually the point of Shake-n-Bake (WP and HE mixed volleys) isn't so much to coat and burn individual folks, as to set the surroundings on fire, mask everything with smoke, and such oxygen out of hidey-holes.

WP certainly isn't pleasant, but in action and usage it far more resembles napalm than it does mustard gas. Calling it a chemical weapon is like calling DU munitions "nuclear weapons", which the anti-war movement also likes to do.
