Just got back from the range with my Fusion alloy CCO.

I tested it with seven kinds of JHP as well as one kind of FMJ. Here's a target after the very first three magazines out of the box:

I can't say enough about the job that Bob Serva did on this gun.

On to the ammo. I brought eight different types to the range to see what the gun likes best. It's an indoor range, so no expansion tests and the like--just function, feel, and feeding. :)

Here are the results:

My three preferred rounds are in bold. I will probably choose between the Hornady and Winchester rounds, as I've heard that the DoubleTap Controlled Expansion round has been made with different types of bullets in the past, and I would feel the need to test again if it changed.

I know the Hornady CD round used to have a problem with hard primers, but I believe they fixed that a while ago. I think the Hornady CD 185 is my light-bullet load and Win Ranger Bonded 230 is my heavy-bullet load. If this were an all-steel Gov't model, I would probably include the Speer 200 +P in the mix, but it wasn't controllable enough for me in this smaller, lightweight 1911.

I think folks would get a better feel for the group if you added the distance it was shot at...25 yards, 50 yards?

...and if you were shooting off a rest or standing two handed

Beautiful Fusion!

Im a fan too, i love my T-Comm .45

I found that Corbon DPX was the best blend of accuracy and recoil with perfect dependability for my carry ammo. I was carrying the Hornady Tap 230gr +P but a lot of hands on testing convinced me to go with the DPX load.

Mine isn't alloy though.

9mm, I was probably only about 10 yards away--just "pick up the gun and shoot it" testing. Two hands, unsupported. The size of the group's not really important--it was three different kinds of ammo, after all--but I was excited that the gun ran so well.

King, yeah, they really do make great guns. This is my first custom since I had Ted Yost build me one seven or eight years ago. Ted's had a retro character (per my design) that this one doesn't, but this one runs every bit as well. I'm seriously impressed.

Phil, in this case it really isn't, he was just putting some rounds out at ten yards, three different types of ammo, you can't really tell anything by a group size in that situation, other than that it did alright.

I have an alloy framed Fusion 9mm CCO. Great gun, a pleasure to shoot and carry, and very, very accurate!

Those CCOs look awesome. I think if I were ever to get a 1911, I would want something exactly like that.
