I'm loading 6.5 grains of AA #5 behind a 165 gr Ranier and 8.4 grains of AA#7 behind a 165 gr Ranier. I loaded 50 of each for velocity and accuracy testing, I do have a chrony.:) I've read several threads on THR where both of these powder perform well in the 40 S&W. I'm in the experimentation mode with powders right now, I'm trying a bunch of different recipe's. Its fun!:)

My old standby is still Unique, I have a couple thousand rounds loaded and they perform great.:)

I like the #5 in my Witness, somewhere aroun 5 grains I believe. It meters great and shot real good too. Power Pistol works real good in 40 also.

I am a fan of AA #5, but Universal Clays beat it out in the .40, at least for me. AA #5 did very well, but I thought that Universal did a little better, so much so I bought a 4 pounder of it. :)

AA #5 is an excellent powder, although my buddy The Bushmaster says it is temperature sensitive, and he knows his stuff. I always test my stuff at around 100 degrees during the summer to make sure it is OK in any temp, so I don't worry about it.

Absolutely. I have burned lots of powder trying different things just for fun.
