Alright, so I'm just running a test to see if a market for my idea would even exist.

So here is the question how much would you be willing to pay for a target that behaved as realistic as feasibly possible when hit.

It would be a singleish use target like a watermelon type reaction. With a little more flair obviously.

Wait here I think I can explain it. Something that would show terminal effects of a hit lol.

Hmmm??

What kind of target?

All my targets currently behave realistically when hit; they receive a hole. What else should it do?

Or are you talking about something like a bird (clay) target that will fall to the ground and flop around for a few seconds? I don't think I'd spend more than a regular box of clays for a box of those.

You mean a deer target that runs off and gets lost in the woods after you shoot it?

Or a BG target that calls you a MF and shoots back at you?

A silhouette that screams and moans? Grabs its chest and faints? Bleeds?

I can't honestly say that I'd pay for those. I'm an extremely cheap guy though, don't use my input to determine the value of your idea. Find your market and get rich off of them.

Lol my next survey is going to be how much would you pay for a book of smart ass responses by THR members lol!

I'm not trying to be hurtful, I'm just the guy with all the wise cracks. If you have a good idea, please make some money. I wish I could.

I would not be a customer for a one-use "realistic" target.
Now if you could provide a multi-use target that behaves in a realistic fashion to make shooting it more challenging, that would be of interest.
Fake blood or whatever not required.

I don't think I would pay much at all, especially with no real idea of what it would be. I've seen living stuff get shot before by a variety of stuff. I've also seen watermelons shot by a variety of stuff. Neither of which really excite me a ton.

RC, where should I send the bill for a new keyboard?

I'll stick with steel and paper with the occasional water filled plastic bottle -- plenty of these for free, but needing to use HP rounds with pistols for maximum effect usually confines my usage to rifle shooting.

I think the question here is, what are you talking about in terms of realism? If it's something designed to truly mimic a target for the purpose of testing hunting or home defense loads, you'll get some enthusiasts and R&D folks, but most people probably wouldn't want it.

How much of the target is reusable? That affects the price - disposable targets people won't be willing to pay for.

Or are you talking about something that will move like a real target?

In all seriousness... I would say there would be more of a market for a target that acted realistically BEFORE the shot was fired. IMHO, it's more important to be able to hit a target that is realistically moving, than it is for the target to realistically "die" after the hit.

... i loved the responses... pretty witty... i can only imagine what it would be like to get you guys together for a few beers... thanks for the fun
