I qualified with an auto for ease of testing, a Tec-9, boxer shorts, boots, wife beater T, and an "X" hat on sideways....... the instructor never came to my end of the lane, or checked the score. Just asked me to leave and gave me my paperwork. Could not have gotten easier. (That might have had something to do with me yelling at the target "You owe me money B^%$H")

Ten Gallon Hair.

Yes. A requirement for female CHL holders in Texas. The hair may not be natural, but must NOT be flammable at temps of less than 850. (Rayon ignites at 650 if saturated with White Rain hairspray.) Otherwise, in Texas under common summer temps, spontaneous hair combustion may occur.

Ten gallon hats for gents. Used to be 15 gallon hats (Hi-cap hats) were common but the Brady law restricts them to ten. Even though the law has sunsetted 10 gallon hats are the common usage.

Well, thankfully, my CHL teacher let me slide on that one, as I had very long hair pulled back into a ponytail. I don't want to think how much White Rain it would take to have gotten all that hair into an Ann Richards Special :neener:

A little-known amendment to the law allows chimpanzees and other great apes to obtain a Texas CHL. This was after reciprocity with Arkansas and in recognition of the gene pool in the Ozark Mountain areas.

There is a rumor that several Blue Heelers in the Brownwood area have obtained their CHLs, but this has not been confirmed and would be unusual, even for Texas.

There is one fully furred biped who works at the Wal-Mart in Mexia, (automotive), locally thought to be a sasquatchus hominus, who has his CHL. He had to shave and put on a ten gallon hat for his photo.
