I was looking to send a message to our Texas government encouraging them to pass SB534, allowing CHL holders to keep a firearm in their locked car. Lo and behold I found a Brady website

which allowed me to do just that. Now they suggest wording that I don’t care for, so I of course wrote something different:

Dear Sir or Madam,
You are considering SB534, a proposed law which would enable Texas Concealed Handgun License holders to keep a gun in their locked car, even if their employer wishes otherwise.
This is a good law. I work for Texas Instruments, and their official policy is to not allow employees to have a gun in the car. As a good employee, I have respected the policy. But this guts the point to having a Concealed Handgun License. I work the regular five days a week, and often weekends as well. I let my CHL lapse because there was little point to having one. If I cannot leave my gun in my car when I go to work, I cannot go about my business armed before or after either, unless I drive all the way home again. I don't live close to where I work so this is a big problem.
Since I don’t need a CHL to travel or at home, and I don’t want to break my employers policy, it was rare that I could use the CHL, so as I said I let it lapse.
Please pass this law. CHL holders are trained, responsible people.
By the way, you may see a lot of emails opposing this law that end with the statement below because a Brady website is automatically generating them, these emails are not generated truly interested members of the Texas public:
