    It's just PR from a failing organization...

    That bill would have never gotten through without NRA backing...and, there appear to be adequate safeguards to prevent abuse by state and ferderal government.
    However, I do expect to be a surge in malpractice suits against mental health providers.

    I'd say most gun owners thought the NICS system covered all 50 states already. I know a year ago I thought so. Surprise, only 22 states were reporting ANY involuntary committment info at all.

    And they've been prohibited by federal law since 1968.
