This weekend at the Temple Gun Club, Temple Texas off the north loop.

We will fire a 30 shot course of fire for Garand, 1903, M1 Carbine and Vintage Military Rifle. There will be four relays in the morning and four relays in the afternoon both Saturday and Sunday. 200 yards, five sighters, then ten slow fire prone, ten rapid fire prone and ten slow fire standing. Scoring after each string. First match counts for the championship, though additional matches may be fired. NRA 200 yard bullseye target will be used. 30-06 and carbine ammo will be issued for the US military rifles.

Nice range. Good guys. Come shoot your old rifles.

Details linked on the TSRA website.

Great guns

If you missed it, too bad. More folks than last year shooting more guns.

One reInactor brought some kind of enfield shortened and suppressed brit firearm that shot .45 acp bullets. VERY interesting weapon and very quiet.

He had all the government papers done giving him permission to own and operate it, of course.

I won the Garand match though it was a two-way tie until the standing score tiebreaker was used. 282X4. There was a three-way tie for the 1903 Springfield trophy between myself, Robert Boyd from the Abilene area and Mark Woodard from Dallas. Robert Boyd won with a 280X4.

Lt Col Don Tryce outshot everyone with an M1 Carbine and I won the Vintage Military Match with my K31 and a 286X9.

The TSRA Highpower team made some money to support team training and efforts at the National Matches. The Temple Club was warmish but in great shape. Several Juniors. We had one shooter from McAllen and some from Big Spring that drove the longest distances.

Dang, I'm sorry I missed that :(

Lt. Col. Tryce is definitely a master with the M1. He was the OIC when I was invited to joined the Texas National Guard shooting team.

Sounds like you had a great time.

Some of us went up and shot the OK State Pistol match over the weekend in Arcadia at the OKC Gun Club. Dave Howland got high Senior and I ended up fourth in the Expert class. There were 24 shooters total. They had enough for one pistol Leg in the EIC match. First non-distinguished got it with a 252.

I had a 261-3X in the NRA Distinguished Revolver match, but only took second place and no points. First was a 272. I was on the winning team for the .45 team match.

Heading to Dallas next Sunday for their regular 2700 and then Amarillo on the 21st for their first indoor match of the season.

DeLisle Carbine. As you say, a very interesting piece of history.

English Carbine.

That's exactly what it was. Very short barrel inside a big tube with a wooden stock and bolt action. I'd never seen one. Hardly made any sound except the mechanical sound of the striker falling. He shot it a little at 200 yards and it was about like shooting a 1911 at 200. You could hit a 4X8 piece of plywood, but that was about it.

Up close, much more accurate.

I think Tryce won the 1903 last year. His rifle MAY be in the TSRA calendar, which I haven't seen yet, this year.
