It makes for a dandy argument about the pathetic failures of both California's gun control policies and their attempts to control the gangs that now seem to be firmly in control.
A hundred years ago, the gangs would likely get sorted out by the citizenry when appointed law enforcement proved ineffective.
What would happen if Californians armed themselves to the teeth and declared an unofficial open season on anyone wearing gang colors or tats? There was a very informative piece I read recently about several Mexican border towns, disgusted with the brutality of the cartels operating on their side of the border, having a sudden surge in unsolved homicides where the victims were "known gangmembers, easily identified by their facial tattoos."
