Do to all the advice and assistance here at THR these are my results, this was the first time I shot using my bipod with a load developed at my reloading bench, I know it's not the best but it is my best shooting, I shot these with no rest under the stock, I've done better groups using the shooting rest I use for load development and sighting in but those don't count in my book.

Nice shooting with the bipod. By the way what caliber are you shooting? It may have been mentioned on your target but I couldn't make it out.

yup, the towel eliminates the bounce off the hard surface. also, follow-through on every shot will probably eliminate those "flyers". I have a tendency to lose concentration when shooting more than a few shots, so I really have to concentrate on follow-through on every single shot.

great shooting by the way,

murf

What helps, and I don't consider it cheating (on field condition practice) is place a towel under your bipod legs up front. Field conditions are going to be more forgiving on the bipod legs then a hard table surface.
Never thought to try that, might just do it next time out.

And good shooting by the way, I'm sure you'll tighten those groups up over time and loads.

I'm shooting a Savage model 111 .270, really need a new shoulder pad my shoulder is killing me lol
use a blanket over the shoulder in the mean time. I use an old army blanket when I test the 270 win, 30-06, 300 weatherby mag, etc. no sense in a bruise the next day.

luck,

The load is good when shooting of the rest you see sitting on the picnic table bench I'm getting 1/2" groups, so I know it's me not the load, I will be practicing like crazy, want to eventually shoot that good without the rest

So one day I was testing my loads at the local range and had dialed my Savage 270 in nicely---I thought. Had nice little clover leaf groups of 5 with one outside keeping it just over 3/4 inch about every time. Another guy was watching and said he could shoot it closer than that with a chuckle. I handed him the rifle and said to go for it. He proceeded to shoot 2 groups of 5. We went down to the target and there were two ragged holes that you could cover with a dime! I did practice a lot with that load afterwards but never got THAT good every time, sigh.:(
