The NICS Improvement Act of 2007 has been morphed and incorporated by the Enemies of Freedom in the Senate. It was passed today by the judiciary committee. Its new title is the School Safety and Law Enforcement Improvement Act.

"WASHINGTON -- Legislation to strengthen the instant background-check system for firearms buyers, drafted in response to the Virginia Tech massacre, advanced another step in Congress today.

The Senate Judiciary Committee voted unanimously to approve a measure, similar to a bill passed in the House in June, to close gaps in the national system, as part of a larger package called the "School Safety and Law Enforcement Improvement Act." http://www.timesdispatch.com/cva/ric/news.apx.-content-articles-RTD-2007-08-02-0243.html

The tragedy at Virginia Tech should remind us all that we need to remain vigilant, and that we need to respond in realistic and meaningful ways when we are presented with such challenges.

How about an armed teacher and student body on campus, jack***?

Oh wait, that doesn't cost $450,000,000 a year. Matter of fact, it is free to the public, that's no good. Have to go to plan "B"; a bunch of feel good crap that does nothing.

Idiots.

There are adequate safeguards in the original house bill (2640), however there were funding issues to be resolved (lack of funding is more the issue).
Contact your Senator to ensure these are resolved prior to submission to Bush.
This is also a good bill to amend to require national reciprocity, by the way.

This bill has been amended to allow individuals to get their gun rights back.

The NRA forced the House Dems to eat that.

Funny considering it was the Dems that started the defunding of that program in 1993 under Clinton
