Not to gloat, not to brag, not to give false hope here. I believe we're seeing the first real signs of change in the reloading component situation.

A local retailer, in which I am personal friends with the regional inventory manager, has had 2 varieties of CCI primers in stable stock for 3 full weeks now. New inventory has arrived at a rate higher than sales, and this is across a 3 state area.

They instituted their first price reduction today, down to $5.99/100 for small rifle, and increased the limit to 1K. The other sizes in stock are still +demand vs supply. He has been assured that the flow from manufacturer/distributer will be stable going forward given no unforseen hoarding events.

$60 is still to spendy to horde, now I will say hello to $40!

Gives us a reason not to buy primers at inflated prices....thanks.
I don't like the idea of paying $85 plus shipping and hazmat per 1k.

On the flip side, I went to the indoor range Wednesday afternoon and asked the sales manager if they were seeing any breaks in the reloading supplies chain. He said he didn’t know. They weren’t going to bother carrying reloading supplies anymore. No profit and no steady customer base. Reloaders buy online and are notoriously cheap. That’s the last retailer other than Bass for five counties to carry reloading supplies. Everyone else quit years ago. And the local Bass considers reloading supplies their lowest priority. I asked.
If I drive three hours south there’s supposed to be a store that sells some reloading supplies but the prices are high and the stock is hit or miss. Small businesses cater to a local audience. It’s impossible to draw conclusions about general supply using anecdotal evidence from local sources.

Will we ever see them again at $2.35 per 100 as they were before the virus in my area?
I don’t know but it’d be nice. One thing: went shopping yesterday. Bunch of high dollar Euro SUVs in the lot and the paper goods aisle was wiped out, big gaps in canned goods, plastic jugs of water out of stock… city folks are driving out to the sticks and wiping out grocery stores inventory again. That don’t speak well.

I want 209 for my future.
I did also notice a significant amount of shotgun blammo ammo...cheap trap load...on the shelf. Price was down on that also to $7.99 or something, cheapest I've seen since it all disappeared for Fed Top Gun. My club got a shipment this summer, May production, of Fed Top Gun that was loaded with European primers. This happened in the last panic also, where FC was loading outsourced primers. That's where all your Fio, Cheddite, NobelSport primers have been going. I think this, and the general availability of ammo which is improving rapidly bode well for our hobby. I think this chapter of stupid is showing signs of abating.

The few times I have been in my local Academy they have had quite an impressive selection of ammo with a few bullets here and there, and recently they even had CCI small rifle primers. To top it off, the prices weren’t bad either. I occasionally walk around the store to kill time between doctors appointments and have a few folks I call if I see anything they are looking for.

Ordered 2K Cheddite 209's from Ballistic Products on 11-November for 39.95 per k. They seem to have the euro primers more frequently then in the past.
This batch arrived on 3-December in a somewhat mangled box, with one of the 100 primer trays missing one whole row of 10. I wonder if the FEDEX driver will sh*t himself when he slams a heavy box down on one and detonates it..........

The LGS that I hang out at a good bit is still a little shakey on primers, but they have a powder selection that's a lot bigger than they used to keep before the spendemic hit.I was there this past Friday and I left with a new Rock Island 1911 in 10MM,100 rounds of Starline brass and a couple different powders to try in it.All I needed was in stock, but I didn't like the bullets they had as well as the ones I had,so I didn't buy any.No doubt things are getting better. If we all still buy with a little sense, there may be hope.
