So here's one of our Christmas traditions. When my oldest was about 3 years old she would tell our dinner guests "That's Rudolph! Daddy shot him, then we ate him".

Just thought I'd share and see if anybody else has any entertaining Christmas themed mounts.

This year she's eight and she started singing "Rudolph the red nosed reindeer had a very shiny skull. And because daddy shot him, now he's up on the wall."

Hey, my kids know where meat comes from and have a good sense of humor about it too. :D

    Merry Christmas everybody.

My wife had this deer I killed in 2009 mounted for me for Christmas this year. My two-year-old promptly named him Rudolph and decorated him.

My Father-in-Law (who is 95 years old) tells the story of how he would, as a young boy, gather materials to construct a 'nest' for the Easter Bunny to leave the usual gifts/candy. When he was about eight he was getting ready for Easter when his father informed him that "The Easter Bunny won't be coming by this year, I shot him".

Father-in-Law was shocked and upset to know that his dad had shot the Easter Bunny. I think it was a couple of days before he found out that his dad had been fooling him . . .

When my granddaughter was about three she discovered the mounted deer head on the den wall. She had stayed with us for a few days before christmas. That Christmas Eve, everytime somebody would arrive at the door she would meet them and insist they immediately come see "grandpa's reindeer'. then she announced to one and all that "Grandpa looks just like a tree!" when he goes after reindeer. She had seen me come home from bowhunting wearing my camo. The next day she wanted me to take her to see the deers. I figured she would be interested for about 3 minutes so I just put her on my shoulders and we walked up behind the house to some 17 acres of CRP ground/prairie grass not really expecting to see anything and a doe and yearling jumped out into the firebreak right in front of us.
