Have any of you ever shot with the sweet sixteen? As a young boy, I learned to shoot grouse with the 16 and after my years in school and back to the field, a good 15 years later, the 16 was dead. I love a 20 in the field and shoot a 12 with alternative shot for waterfowl....A 16 would be sweet again. At the time, the gun was a lovely over under. As a growing teen the size and pointability were fine. Close to 50 now, I wonder how the ''Ithaca'' would serve me know?

my favorite 16 ga shotgun is my 11-48. Shoots nice, the 11-48 just seems to fit me in most gauges.

If you want one, go for it. You can find some pretty good deals on classic shotguns in 16 also. Winchester model 12's and Ithaca 37's sell pretty cheap in 16ga. Browning A-5's however don't.

I myself just traded my M91/30 plus $50 for an old Wards Hercules double barrel in 16 gauge. The ammo isn't everywhere like 12 gauge, but I like the way it shoots and I can buy online, so no worries!

s the 16 ga declined in popularity after the introduction of the 3 inch 20 ga most manufacturers only offered 16 ga on 12 ga frames which basically destroyed the advantage of the 16 ga. It was similar to the 28 ga offerings on 20 ga frames. A 16 ga on a 16 ga frame is still a great gun. I have a large supply of CCI157 primers and Remington cases which use them - a delight to shoot.

I've shot a lot of 16ga's over the years, and own 4 now. However I've never got to shoot a "sweet 16", that is a trademark Browning A-5 made just a little lighter and a little flashier than a standard A-5 16ga.Browning offers the BPS in 16ga on a 20ga frame, and makes a o/u 16ga at times(right now).

I love the 16. My total owned - 10, if I recall correctly...wait, no.... 11. I forgot about the old Browning A-5 with the forward safety and short chamber...
