They did not deliver any complete pistols but the parts they did turn out were used. You will see the occasional reference to a "Savage slide" gun where the only thing they made with their name on it was put on a Colt or other frame at Augusta Arsenal.

You had just as well list Tokarev, it is as close to a 1911 as some of that other stuff.

Guncrafter Industries
And even though they don't sell assembled guns, they will do the frame/slide fit and supply all the parts (not to mention being the base of nearly all built-from-scratch custom 1911s), so I'll say Caspian.

Also, would you consider Gunsite a manufacturer? They had gunsmiths modifying guns and selling them.. If they qualify, I'd add Yost-Bonitz and Grizzly Custom for their 1* packages which is basically the same thing as the Gunsites.

Yowza! Wonder how much it would shorten the list to just name frame manufacturers? Many just put together a gun on someone else's frame.

You left out the best of all....Pistol Dynamics.
Also, Yost-Bonitz is now defunct. They've parted ways but both are still building 1911's.

I know, it's why I mentioned Grizzly Custom (Lew Bonitz & Co). The YB 1*'s are still out there and there are many defunct manufacturers on the list, I don't know if they'd be considered one but given the amount of 1*'s that left their shop and the price they're probably more numerous than many of the 'semi-custom' manufacturers.

I did not see FABRINOR VITORIA (FireStorm 45 GOV'T)

F.M.A.P. is more correctly D.G.F.M. - (F.M.A.P.)

The Ballester-Molina is not really a 1911. (no grip safety)

Nice work.

It's getting unwieldy, though. How about putting defunct in one section, frame makers in another, and current complete gun makers in the main list.

Since you included the Ballarina Molester, (which isn't really a 1911 clone, it just looks sort of like one), you might as well include the Star B (which also isn't really a 1911 clone, it just looks sort of like one). Notice that it has a pivoting trigger and no grip safety. It's also has an external extractor and is slightly smaller than a 1911. I'd suggest that the Tokarev has almost as much in common with the 1911 as the Ballaster-Molina and Stars have.

Another gun you omitted is the Argentine Sistema, which is an identical (and licensed) clone of an early Colt 1911A1. All parts are interchangable. This gun is as close as you'll get to a WWII USGI 1911A1 for under $1k.

Well, if you really want to push the envelope, you could add Radom.

Where do you draw the line?
Does it have to be .45ACP?
Does it have to have a grip and thumb safety?
Does it have to be single-stack and single action?

The Sistema was already included by including the Argentine manufacturer F.M.A.P or more correctly D.G.F.M.-(F.M.A.P.)
