P5 Guy...

Does your online moniker mean you own a Walther P5? If it is a P5 Compact, I'd bet I'm not the only one who would enjoy seeing it! I guess just to keep it in the spirit of the 686 club, maybe a photo of it next to a 686 would keep everybody happy! I wish I had a second 686 to post photos of, but unfortunately I have only one. I hope to change that one day, and I also hope to get myself a Walther, a P5, P5 C, P1, P38, P4, or P88, any one of those would work for me!! I had a P1 but foolishly traded it, the trade wasn't foolish, I got a beaut Smith & Wesson for it, letting go of the P1 was what was foolish. I should have scrounged up the cash somehow!!

I just joined the 686 club today! Can't wait to shoot her!

No pics yet but I picked up a 686+ 4" the other day and can't wait to spend some more quality time with it! I went through a cylinder of Rem 158gr loads and the recoil is very tame!

Very nice Waidman. That's the version I wanted also. 5" unflutted. Then the Competitor came back into production in the Performance Center.

I pick it up Saturday morning. CAN'T WAIT!!!! Then I'm going to slap the Nills Grips on I bought, and away we go! Pics when I get a chance.

I know I have put this picture somewhere in the previous thirty pages of posts - color me too lazy to look.

When I think of a 5" 686P, I think of my '2004 Stocking Dealer Exclusive' bought new 12/04 as you see it below:

Yep - partially lugged, seven shooter, HiViz front & V-notch rear sights, and Ahrends square conversion cocobolo grips with fg's. Oddly, it was $10 less than the cheapest 4" full-lugger my lgs had in stock. Great balance, too. Not up to the perfect balance of a 4" 66, but darn close. Negligible recoil with +P .38's and my wimpy .357M's (Yeah, I am one of those guys who buys .357M revolvers and shoots wimpy .357M's and .38's in them. Try to find 7 & 8 shot .38's!). Fun shooter, mine languishes in the back corner of my safe.... thank the 8-shot 627's!
