I always wanted a Beretta 9000S, but everybody always hates on them and it turned me off of it. When I was able to work the price down to $280 for a very lightly used model at Gander on Saturday I finally took one home.

2 issues with it:

1. I'm not finding much in the way of leather unless I want to stick it in one of those day planners or a fanny pack, which I'm not a big fan of.

2. The take down lever is nigh impossible to push out with that button on the right side of the frame. It took me about 10 minutes aided by a ball point pen to get the thing field stripped and my fingers were sore for hours, and I made a few light scratches on the frame as a result.

Anyone else have similar experiences? I know everybody talks about its width and the stiff safety, but I don't have those problems. I'm more interested in finding a serviceable holster and wondering if I'm missing some trick with the take down process.

I had one, it was a very reliable and extremely accurate little pistol. They are chunky, but I have large and somewhat slender hands with a cavernous grip, so it felt pretty good to me. My ex took that one when we split, and I didn't miss it enough to buy a replacement, but it was a good little gun.

That said, there are a number of compact 9mm pistols out these days that I prefer to the 9000, the S&W M&Pc being the frontrunner.

Trigger reach was an issue in DA mode for me. So I ended up with a Kahr CW9. An all around better CCW piece IMO(probably one of the best choices on the market).

I have smaller hands and dont find it hard to hold at all.
I picked one up in a trade in .40
