As per SOP, the AHSA trolls are out in force to exploit the murders in CT.

How to spot an AHSA troll:
  • Claims to be a gun owner, yet knows little or nothing about firearms.
  • Calls for "compromise" with people who don't believe in compromise, only submission.
  • Uses anti-gun buzzwords such as "assault weapon" and "reasonable restrictions".
  • Throws out irrelevancies, like hunting.
  • Doesn't know existing laws, while calling for harsh and repressive new ones.
  • Lies, both about statistics and technology. Freely invents "facts" on the fly.
  • Speaks of the "inevitability" of repressive gun laws.

How to deal with AHSA trolls:
  • Expose his ignorance.
  • Refuse to let him set the terms of debate and vocabulary. Call things by their right names.
  • Refuse to treat capitulation as "compromise". Offer him REAL "compromise" (like repealing the NFA '34) and watch him backpedal.
  • Ruthlessly expose EVERY lie.
  • Finally, NEVER give up, or give in.

Antis are out in force

Heads up ladies and gents. The gun-control crowd is out in force. If you notice a sudden influx of posts in support of new "reasonable restrictions", and a general change in tone on THR, it's probably placed there strategically by a gun control supporter. The idea behind it is that by posting online- even if they aren't swaying your opinion, they have that post as evidence that "we" support "reasonable" gun control.

Fight it folks.

It is pretty obvious, the low post count and the dormant account for a few years.

They should all be asking for teachers to have the right (for those that volunteer) to be able to carry concealed at schools.

You cannot protect children from an armed maniac in an area that is a known gun free zone. It is blatently obvious the reason schools are targeted is because there are no guns there and the media sensationalism incites other lunatics to follow the same path.

Schools are a turkey shoot for any deranged lunatic.

You forgot use of the word "clip" in place of "magazine."

Are you saying that in jest? Because, I know some very pro-gun, NRA members for life who occasionally say clip instead of magazine....and they do know the difference, and like me they are not wrapped up in semantics.

I merged these two threads since they had the same basic claim.

Just remember, anyone who is ok with more restrictions than you is a socialist infiltrator seeking to take away your rights or a Fudd.
Anyone who demands less restrictions than you is a militant extremist making you look bad or a socialist infiltrator acting as an agent provocateur.
Only give credence to the opinions of those who exactly agree with you. Everyone else is suspect.

Well done, Deanimator.

I've already seen evidence of this sort of thing on other 'sites and it's bound to grow worse as the "effort" develops a head of steam.

I heard CNN anchor Don Lemon say " if you hunt with these assault rifles, it leaves the meat unusable". He was directly referring to an AR style rifle. So the commercial media (all of the networks) need fact checks too along with orginizations like AHSA.

We just need to keep composed, offer facts and not feed trolls. I have heard both sides call for action(liberal and conservative). We need to let cooler heads prevail right now. Stand firm on our beliefs and issues. It is a sad time for our nation.

If we let the anti's define what an "assault weapon" is, I'm affraid it could be very bad for us. These gun grabbers need to be educated on the subject. But I also think misinformation is one of their most effective tools.

Grassman, you are exactly right. Too many nowadays confuse opinion with fact. They also exaggerate on issues that are in the media. I still blame media for a lot of our issues in this nation. Media has the power to manipulate and twist things to accommodate their views.. Sadly people fall for it whole heartedly.

Shooting assault rifles makes you sterile...I read it in a study I just made up
The heavy metal in guns also causes those who handle them to lose mental capacity over time.

It's pretty funny when people try to regulate things they don't even understand, and they apparently don't even care to understand. Just watch the MSNBC video with the woman trying to define a barrel shroud. She did everything she could to avoid answering the question, a question about something being regulated, in a bill she supported.

If it was one person who was a long time poster, then maybe. There's a bunch of posts proposing detailed ways of doing new restrictions. That's not a coincidence.

It's imperative that we crush this because it can be easily used by a dishonest news source or politician to lend credence to our side "supporting" restrictions. As in "Internet gun chat rooms are in a flurry about...get this... Supporting new restrictions!"

Stamp it out.

Unfortunately it is terrifying to think there are people who take what we see as funny as being facts. As their are many people who still think what the media says is the infallible truth.

just sounding off, since I don't post much...

There is no such thing as a reasonable restriction of a right.
Clips are for Garands, magazines are for AR's and the dentist office.

What is AHSA?
A discredited faux "gun enthusiasts organization" from back in 2005-2006 known as the American Hunters and Shooters Association that was actually a front for some of the Handgun Control Inc. crowd. They tried to infiltrate some gun rights organizations and forums and convince people to be more neutral and appeasing.

They basically were outed and shunned universally within a very brief period of time.

Even Wiki explains exactly who they are: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Hunters_and_Shooters_Association

A group of "hunters and shooters" who fought against us in Heller, who endorse a straight ticket of anti-gun candidates, and who have VPI/HCI staffers on their board. REEEEAL subtle.

+1 to Lykoris.
And let me apologize in advance for the low post count, I just joined a couple weeks ago.
Still a noob, but I've read you all for years for advice.

If it's trolling to advocate sensible compromise to preserve the 2nd Amendment, I am guilty.

Mark my words, Sam. When the liberals come for your guns and the moderates in this Republic support them, I will feel little sympathy, because the bulk of the High Road (and presumably, the vocal fringe of the gun-rights movement) has chosen to bury our opponents in tired talking points.

Sheesh, it is a really tough call. We EXIST to resist notions like what are so often called "reasonable," "sensible" compromise measures (terms tossed around so often as to have become ironic catch-phrases for "SERIOUS ANTI-GUN TRIPE".)

But sometimes it is quite useful to have someone stand up and offer to be a sparring partner so we don't get too rusty and out of shape at patiently, doggedly, politely (mostly), and very thoroughly demolishing the proffered "if we just give up a little" appeasement suggestions.

Ok. I won't ask for your sympathy. Meanwhile, if we survive this tempest and such does not come to pass, I won't try to seek you out and say "told ya."

Deal? ;)

Rocketmedic, since computers and iPads weren't in the back of the minds of the framers of our great Constitution way back in 1787, I'm sure they had no idea that one day we would have small children posting nude photos of themselves online for anyone to see forever. Therefore, it just seems to be sensible and reasonable to limit what people can say on their Facebook accounts, and prohibit the posting of any photographs of any type online, and require a background check, a license to purchase an electronic device or any communications device except a quill pen, and approval of the Bureau of Communications before you can put a web site up. I mean, it's for the protection of all of us, right?? Especially it's for the children.
