This may or not be a silly question,

Just got done putting an Ace skeleton stock on one of my ARs and just noticed that the holding screw doesn't have a vent hole going through it like the one that was holding the A2 butt stock on the buffer tube. All my AR have this vent hole in the holding screw. How important is this?

Thanks

Just because your vendor chooses to cut corners isn't necessarily a good reason to ignore the original design.

I prefer my military pattern rifles to stick as close to the original as possible. The engineers that designed the weapon included a hole in the buffer tube for a reason. BSW

Pushes excess air out of extension tube which increses reliability in full auto and also acts as a drain to vent excess fluids from the tube.

That's what I thought, thanks.
Read a lot of reviews on the Ace Skeleton stock and no ever mention any issues with the lack of a vent hole but I may, just to be sure, look for a screw that will fit with the vent hole.

Just like in the automotive aftermarket, aftermarket gun parts are seldom an overall "upgrade".

The small manufacturers simply don't have the T&E resources the OEMs do. Plus they are generally catering to a tight fisted consumer market.

I don't know how much air is going to go through that little hole in the time frame of a bolt cycling (probably why the buffer isn't round where it contacts the inside of the buffer tube), but it certainly will allow water to drain out when the gun leaned against a tree whatever.
