My vote goes to Collectors Firearms. Undeniably one of the best gun stores in Texas. Great service, giant selection, and good location! The only downside to it is that old guy who works in 22's who keeps calling me Zeke. LOL!

Collector's has the best selection, but they are so over prices it isn't even funny. tried to buy a used P99 they had for sale - it didn't seel on Gunbroker, and I contacted them directly.

Even w/ no box, they wanted an arm and a leg for it. And, their prices on everything else is also scary.

I would agree that it has one of the best selections in Texas. But, as others have mentioned they are so over priced I've never bought anything in the 7 years or so I've been going in.

Even though I'd like to support them because they do maintain such a large selection, I just can't justify paying the prices they want for new or used.

I've been dealing with them for almost 20 years and occasionally get a 'deal'. I, like Browningguy go there to browse. It is more of a museum that you can purchase from. Anyone go to Fountains Firearms or Carters Country on Treaschwig Rd?

Color me astonished! I am really in awe of anyone who not only knows all the gun stores in Texas but can evaluate them. IIRC, Texas is a little larger than my back lot and the last time I was there it had a whooole lot of gun stores.

I've been buying from Carters Country, especially the original store on Treaschwig, for about 30 years. All of the guns in my safe except the Wilsons came from there. Good people, good inventory, good prices. I'm also usually shooting on their outdoor pistol range at least once a week.

Good shooting and be safe.

Jim, I'm not aware that anyone said they had been to all the gunstores in Texas. However, I've been to many of the big ones in Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, Houston and several smaller towns. Some of us do get around a bit.

Go look at the site and astonish yourself some more.

While in Houston I like Fountain Firearms. I live in Garland so around here (Dallas area) I like McClellands.

I have no love for Collectors Firearms in Houston. They want MSRP for new guns and new prices for used guns, the employees are snooty and think they are God's gift to firearms and shooting, and up until recently would not let CHL holders carry in the store. I won't say where they can go, but it involves a handbasket.

My vote for the best gun store in Texas goes to Champion Firearms in College Station. Katy and Mike are good people, have a knowledgeable sales staff, good prices, and an indoor range.

My vote for the best chain store in Texas goes to Sportsman's Warehouse in Lewisville or Round Rock. Excellent prices, excellent selection, and they have lots of reloading stuff.

Just my .02,

I second Champion Firearms. They have the cheapest gun store prices I have ever seen in an gunstore I have ever entered. Granted, they used to be cheaper until they ran almost everyone else in the area out of business. But, unless ya go to a gun show, you won't find better prices.
