The best value in Autoloaders?

Ruger P-series are good, definitely.

Very reliable and decently accurate (and according to some, the P90 is VERY accurate)

Don't expect to carry one though - the dang things are HUGE and blocky. Sub-par trigger, too.

Considering how cheaply you can get one new with Ruger's factory rebate, though, I have to say they are probably the best value in "service" autos out there.

CZ is better in terms of ergonomics and accuracy, but you'll probably pay a fair amount more for it.

Bersas and Makarovs are awesome values as well, but they are "just" blowback .380s.

If I could have only one auto it would be

a CZ75. It is fortunate for me that it also represents a best value for the money.

I agree with most of what the others have posted as well. Except for Rugers. They are cheap and reliable but they just don't deliver things like a fast sight picture, comfortable grips, frame mounted controls, etc. etc.

Save Your money get an CZ or an XD or a sistema. With these three you get a world class gun. Rugers just ain't WORLD class in my book. They are more like Missouri Class. :p

Hmmm..

I was originally a bit offended by that, but considering the current state of our CCW law, way overpriced handguns at shops, and a dealer last week offering to get me a Spingfield Champion at RETAIL price+ $40 shipping + $40 more for a "transfer fee" (sic), plus tax, +10% ("so he would make a little off it") as a great deal. Maybe were not a "world class" handgun state.

Ruger's work, are cheap, and hold up. Missourians work cheap and are often held up in the St Louis area...Maybe a fair comparison;)...

I agree with most others, but would only add that in addition, though I have not owned one personally, the Star Firestars (used) appear to be very good values. My buddy had one in 9x19, and it shot great, had a nice fit and finish, and was dirt cheap.

Blue Duck

no offence meant. Where I'm from, we don't have much to look down on so we pick on missouri. Some of my favorite people live in missouri. At least our highways are better. Of course I could be from any state and say that. :)

None taken, know what you mean about states.

Here we say toothpaste was invented in Arkansas, because anywhere else they would have called it teethpaste. ;)

I'm going to have to say CZs and any used gun that turns out to perform as it should, higher risk but lower price on a used gun. In a new gun, CZ takes the cake.

For a polymer gun, Springfield XD.
For an all metal gun, CZ-75 of sorts.

I think the above two are pretty much the creme of the Value crop. They are also pretty much the two guns gaining the most momentum.

For a gun that doesn't cost much coin, the Mak is very hard to beat.
For a fun gun that doesn't have to hold any responsibility duty wise... CZ-52.
