The Combat Masterpiece

That’s my M-67-1 in my earlier post; a Louisville Police turn-in, with SS front (plus orange insert), & blued rear sights. Don’t know if they are original to the gun, but suspect that they are. The orange insert works well for me, framed by the blue rear, in most any light. Rio and some of the other LEO’s might have alternate opinions as to the front sights utility in their line of work. Best regards Rod
My first 67, an eon ago, came with the stainless sights; not sure, at this distance, if the front had a red insert. I changed the rear to blue, and certainly put in an insert. (Courtesy of Lee's Red Ramps).
The Complete Catalog claims the 67 came with stainless sights/red inserts. So go figure. Mine will see light service, so it really isn't too critical. The painted orange works well enough.
Thanks,
Moon

The features on the Model 67 seem to be a bit indefinite.

I suspect S&W changed features as parts were used up and
new parts appeared in the assembly line.

The stainless rear sight, 1972, apparently lasted until it didn't.
Then blue sights were put in.

The red/orange front sight insert likely had the same treatment.

The Model 67 was from 19(71)72 until 19(76)77 at which time it
became the 67-1, the change being the gas ring going from the
yoke to the cylinder.

I have a Model 67 with stainless rear sight and all stainless front.
It was modified to double action only and with the stocks that
came with it, I suspect it might have had its origins in the LAPD.
Suspect, I said, not proven.

I gathered much of this from the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson.
