He knew he was going to lose.

The new ordinance won't be much better for Chicago, unfortunately. However, it is a significant victory for gun owners across the nation.

Chicago residents will be able to own handguns but, for now until more legal challenges are won, they'll have to jump through a bunch of intentionally imposed hoops to acquire them and keep them.

At least Chicago residents will be able to purchase guns outside of the city in Illinois. DC residents are hamstrung by federal law and can only purchase from one legal dealer in DC. Congress is working on changing that soon and today's ruling will make it a little easier to do.

He must have been heavily medicated - I would expect frothing, ranting, threatening to shove bayoneted rifles up reporters rear ends...wait, that happened already.

So now that outright bans are a no-no and the 2a has been declared a "fundamental right", but he's calling for banning through making it so difficult to get a firearm that no one will want one, isn't that a slam dunk deprivation of rights under the color of law?

Thingster, IANAL, but I would certainly think so. he just hung himself in stating that he INTENDS to derpive people of their civil rights.

Even if Daley was convicted our Dear Leader, who hails from his fouled city, would instantly pardon him. I would hope it goes through, anyway.

In any case, this echos my other post and Jackson's observation nearly two hundred years ago regarding the Cherokee and Georgia.

"What army does the Supreme Court have?" Jackson is supposed to have said (but did not).

We can be sure the if Obama does not enforce those laws he does not like, he will NOT enforce this current ruling if Daley, and others, refuse to abide.
