Lucky bastard, I live in Illinois and i bet soon here it will be against the law to even own a gun period.

Well.....

To be perfectly honest... what finally drove me to do it is I fear that in our state, the lovely(but getting increasingly too liberal) state of Washington, I could easily see them taking the ability to get one away, I'm am just hoping now that there would be some sort of "Grandfather Clause" :D

With a hi-cap magazine ban looming in legislation in Illinois i am even more worried about the politicians in Illinois ****ting on the bill of rights i have to halfway seriously think of what i would do if i was ever confronted by a member of local law enforcement coming to confiscate magazines and or firearms, so far i figure i will site the second amendment word for word and tell them to **** off, however i hope it never comes to this

In a few years it will be illegal to even talk about gun. Damn communist regime. When will the US just drop Illinois from the roster so I can sell 49 star American flags.

How soon they forget! New guy buys beer & ammo - Shiner Bock & .45acp, please.

Congratulations on getting that out of the way. Be sure to mark your calendar for when to renew. It's embarassing to find out you have expired - and NO I will not tell you any stories.:neener:

stay safe.

I got the call from the Sheriff's Department that mine was in while I was out shooting the other day. Packed my crap up and headed straight down to pick it up. Took about 65 days from the time I applied to me picking it up.

65 days??

that would be unbearable, here takes 30 days

They had a very large increase in applicants after VT and have been backlogged, so I'm not too upset. I talked to a couple of co-workers who have had theirs for a while (Pre Virginia Tech) and they said it took right around 30 days for theirs to come in.

Congrats!!

Carry wisely, safely and never let anyone know you have it.
Here's to hoping you never need it.

+1 to you needing to buy the beer and ammo, Bud and .357 Magnum please.

Beer & ammo huh?

How can I afford that now?......... cause you know of course that now that I have my CPL, I must buy something new just as a "carry piece" :D I have a moderate collection currently, but nothing I really want to carry. I mean that's what you're supposed to do right?........... I mean that's what I'm tellin my wife................ that's just kind of a rule I thought! :uhoh:

:D

If it helps any, explain why you are glad your state does not have "one handgun a month" laws. In my case, it's not so much the purchase price that busts the budget as the transfer fees. I'm almost ready to disobey the law and only buy a handgun every other month!

stay safe.

Oh man, I remember when I got mine! You need a permit to purchase here in CT, so I burned rubber out to get mine (60 miles each way ), went back to work after I picked it up.

Then I called the gunshop and asked what time they would be open till. I was told 6pm, I arrived at 5:45pm to a closed gunshop. Then I went back the next day and was told NICS was closed for Memorial day... Uggh!

Well luckily here you don't need a permit to purchase, or trust me, I would have gotten it years ago!.

And man that would really suck to have to buy 1 pistol a month :)

what finally drove me to do it is I fear that.....
.....City gubmint lawn mowers are going to show up to manicure your lawn?*:what:

Dude, you live in LYNDEN! Where they STILL don't allow dancing and alcohol in the same building because "bad things happen"(Quote from a Lynden City Councilman).

Are you required to carry a black powder firearm on that new permit?:neener:

*In Lynden, if you let your yard go, the city shows up to mow your lawn--AND send you a bill. And they call themselves Republicans!

what just cause we are Republicans, we can't have a clean town??:neener: I actually don't mind that "blue law" at all (mainly cause I don't let my lawn get over 6" long). But I'll tell you what, you couldn't PAY me to live in Seattle!!! so when it comes to comments like that from people who are insane enough to live anywhere near Seattle.........Believe me I take it with a grain of salt!!!:D

P.S. didn't you watch the news last night, the Seattle mayor thinks "Bad things happen" too, he wants a permit of some sort that whenever they want to they could shut a bar down at a moments notice! kind of like taking away their liquor permit, except that process takes too long, so he wants something quicker!

Um, I haven't bought a pistol in over a year... I wish I could afford a pistol every month.

Ummm.... I think I can say that??? what I can never say is that I haven't bought a firearm period in over a year! but at this point I think it has been over a year since my last pistol purchase.
