I have a SA 1911 milspec that failed to feed on the last round I planned to fire for the day! It's driving me nuts here.

It was a Golden Saber, and after it happened I shot 50 target rounds, and then 50 more Golden Sabers with no problems.

My questions: Was it me? Did I more than likely have the dreaded limpwrist for that round as I had no other problems with the 100 after?

Should I be confident that the gun is 100%? I did fire 100 rounds after, and no problems. I also fired 50 GS (man that was expensive) to make sure they fed just fine. I've had 600 plus trouble free rounds on this one also prior to today.

I'm hoping it was just me!

It was you and your limpwrist, Most likely !!!
Not sure but thats what i am going with. Sometimes its easy to let up a little on the grip on the last round. I have done it.

Thanks! I was actually HOPING it was me.

A guy told me 98% of the time, a stovepipe or 3 point jam is user error all the way.

Things like FTF and FTE are gun issues.

Funny thing is after you read all the posts on guns with no problems ever, I figure now that it is inevitable and happens if you don't monitor the wrist!

No, 98% of the time it's the magazine.

Were you shooting one handed or two ? Rapid fire or slow?

Number your magazines so you can track any feeding problems in the future.

Were you by any chance using a 8rd Mag?

Was the gun new and this one mishap in the first 200 rounds or so?

Honestly I've never seen a 1911 get limpwristed, but the mags (cheap ones) create many problems.

Yup, Chip McCormick 8 rounders. Think this may be the culprit?

I did go through that magazine with the remainder of the rounds with no problems.

I had problems with the last round in a chip McCormick powermag but from what you have said I'd go with user error.

Also, if you ran 100 more rounds through the gun, would you trust that it's not the gun? Thanks.

I personally DO NOT think it was the CM mags ---- I've used the same 8 CM mags for the last 20 years and can not fault them --- I however do change the mag spring every five years or so --- these mags have been used in hundreds of IPSC/IDPA matches and are near 100% reliable.

I think it was the combo of the Golden Saber ammo and MAYBE not enough oil/lube in the gun.
